He's likely just a 1C, but potential means what he could potentially be, and he could potentially be a player in the mold of a more offensive minded version of Kopitar, Bergeron, or Toews; which is what I'd consider to be a franchise center. But a lot has to go right in his development to put him at that level (though playing great hockey at 18 is a decent start).
