Price, depending of how it goes in the next 6 years lol

He already has some records regarding goaltending in Montreal (Roy, Dryden, Plante is his competition) and is home grown.

He is/was the goaltender of an entire era and was among the best (if not straight up the best) of his peers during his time.

.... But it could sour rapidly if he doesn't live up to that terrible, terrible contract lol

I feel like the Flames, although having a list of a few that can be retired (Fleury, Kipper, maybe MacInnis), will retire Giordano.

Perry is likely for the Ducks.

I'd say he was a lock but I don't think Ducks management appreciate him as much as they should.

Penguins # 71 Evgeni Malkin is a lock to have his number retired.
If Price plays his entire career in Montreal his # 31 will also be retired.

Locks
Good bets at this point

Anaheim Ducks

15 - Ryan Getzlaf
10 - Corey Perry
(Unless Giguere's gets retired I'm have a hard time calling Perry a lock)

Boston Bruins
33 - Zdeno Chara
37 - Patrice Bergeron

Carolina Hurricanes
12 - Eric Staal

Chicago Blackhawks
2 - Duncan Keith
19 - Jonathan Toews
88 - Patrick Kane

Dallas Stars
14 - Jamie Benn

Detroit Red Wings
13 - Pavel Datsyuk
(Not that I think he won't be but standards in Detroit are out of this world so you never know...)

Edmonton Oilers
97 - Connor McDavid
(They retire every HOFers who had their prime with the team)

Los Angeles Kings
8 - Drew Doughty
11 - Anze Kopitar
32 - Jonathan Quick
23 - Dustin Brown
(Like said above Brown's is probably going up but I wouldn't be floored if it's not the case)

Minnesota Wild
9 - Mikko Koivu
(Long time captain leads the franchise in GP and PTS but we don't know where the bar is gonna be set (or was it the fans??). I'd say Koivu is ahead of Suter)

Montreal Canadiens
31 - Carey Price
(He is breaking records with the team but will he be honored if he doesn't win a cup?)

Nashville Predators
35 - Pekka Rinne
6 - Shea Weber
(The only reason 35 wouldn't go up is if NSH go the only-HOFers/cup winners route which would be surprising. Until that possibility is out of the way nobody is a lock)

New York Islanders
Can't think of anyone of significance deserving

New York Rangers
30 - Henrik Lundqvist

Ottawa Senators
65 - Erik Karlsson

Philadelphia Flyers
28 - Claude Giroux
(Could be 2nd in franchise points. Better than Barber but no cups for now)

Pittsburgh Penguins
68 - Jaromir Jagr
71 - Evgeni Malkin
87 - Sidney Crosby

San Jose Sharks
19 - Joe Thornton
12 - Patrick Marleau
8 - Joe Pavelski

Tampa Bay Lightning
91 - Steven Stamkos
77 - Victor Hedman
86 - Nikita Kucherov

Washington Capitals
8 - Alexander Ovechkin
19 - Nicklas Backstrom

This. And the only way Kuch doesn’t get his retired is if he and the organization have a major falling out resulting in a trade within the next couple years - otherwise he’s likely to end up holding most of the team’s scoring records.

I’ll also say that Point has a good chance as well, though it’s still too early to put him on this list. He just has to stay healthy and keep doing what he’s doing. But if all goes well I can see all four of those guys not only getting their numbers retired in Tampa but ending up in the Hall of Fame as well (as with their numbers being retired Stammer and Hedman are already locks, Kucherov is well on his way, and Point has potential but it’s too early to seriously discuss.)

Backstrom is a lock for the Capitals. Although Holtby isn't with the team anymore, there's a decent chance his #70 will eventually be retired.

For his contributions in helping them fit under the cap every year since 2015, Nathan Horton, Toronto Maple Leafs.

Who else ?

That is a massively low bar for jersey retirement. That would be among the least done to get a number retired.

Kane, Toews and Keith are 100% locks. I don't know why you would put the first two as likely.

Confusing how Kopitar/Doughty are locks and not Kane/Toews/Keith

Anyhow I could see Hossa getting his number retired now that he's in the HHOF. Hawks are notoriously tough with numbers being retired, essentially every one thats been retired has belonged to a HHOF player minus Magnuson (who died tragically). Seabs I can only see them doing if they bury the hatchet with Chelios and do both around the same time, like NYR did with Bathagte/Graves.
