They didn't sign them for Milwaukee's playoff run. It's simply signing our prospects (like we do every year), and building for the future. Milwaukee isn't gonna have 11 D next year.

it's all an effort to stifle offense... 4D on the ice at all times.

DP is restocking the pipeline with D, we knew he needed to do this. Out of the 11D how many are NHL ready? None How many will develop into NHL defensemen Ummm 2 or 3 if we are lucky. There will be holes in the defense to fill in the next few years. No team can keep three elite guy on D and that's where we will be.
