Seriously though, rough break what happened to that guy. If what's been said is true I'd be way more than a mope, I'd ****ing kill someone.

Led us to that Cup, was an awesome Captain America. Enjoy retirement Langs

Honestly I'd almost forgot about the latter, which is kind of a shame because that was a great ending to the regular season. What happened after it, both good and bad (Ranger sweep, the punking by the Canes) kind of overshadowed that run to the division.

I was at that game in Montreal. When they went down 3-0 I remember thinking "oh well, they won 10 straight, I guess 11 was too much to ask for". Couldn't believe they made that comeback.

Much respect to him and what he helped the Devils do when he was here.

But it's sad that for me, aside from the cup run, I'll remember him for his nickname around here :

Captain CrankyPants. :sarcasm:

good player for us... but Sutter really ****ed the locker room up with his **** personal decisions and I think Jamie was made the bad guy

complain about Deboer all you want, he's a much better coach than Sutter was

Not a fan of Langenbrunner at all, as he was a fair-weather individual.

When things were going well, he was a "professional", but when things turn(ed) sour, so did he. At best, the end went extremely poorly to say the least, and at worst, it was disgraceful (literally). A completely unnecessary drama.

Same, Docs call was Amazing too when i heard it after

Yeah specifically remember that game myself - one of my favorite Devils moments courtesy of Jamie and Doc.

Without his play in game seven in Ottawa we don't get that 3rd cup.

Which means, as far as I'm concerned, that all else is forgotten. I do not care what drama went on in an eventually will be forgotten regular season a few years later - the man was instrumental in delivering the 3rd Stanley Cup to New Jersey.

Happy trails Captain.

I'm pretty sure he took a discount to stay with us in 2006. Less than $3 million a year for that contract, and we certainly got more than our moneys worth for all but the last year of it.

I went to that autograph signing

He was nice to my uncle and I. Let me see his '03 ring and we were the only ones there. Talked briefly on the lockout and how it sucked.

 I wonder how many he did? He did one at the local Shop Rite in my town and I missed it, but my friends ended up going for me. I was away for my birthday and they had gotten me a card where Langs signed it saying Happy Birthday, which to me, was the coolest thing ever at the time.

In that vein I remember one time Crosby was crying about something (shocker!) and whoever the referee was - Van Massenhoven? - was dressing him down and pointing to the C on Langs' jersey while doing it.

And major lolz to 'Why can't we be friends' playing in the background during that YouTube

My lasting memory of him unfortunately is him being on operation shutdown mode during the Flyers series in 2010. i remember him killing a penalty and literally going through the motions and the Flyers scoring in the infamous Jellyjar game.

He then ruined another season by having a similar attitude and not waiving his no trade clause till the season was in the *******.

Was very happy to see this guy traded a few years ago, was clearly screwing with the team chemistry and seemed to be a whiny baby. I can't say I liked Langenbrunner all that much to be honest, but he did contribute positively for a few years. Obviously 03 comes to mind, and his run with ZZPops was memorable as well. I'm not sure if we have had a line with that much chemistry since ZZPops.

Agree completely. Hated him that last season and was so happy when he was finally traded.

Does anyone know who we ended up with from that pick?
