Wings fan here. Is there anything other than Larkin that Winnipeg fans would want? Could Tatar be the starter for a deal? What's his value? Would love to have him in DET.

Trouba is having growing pains, but his upside is so high that it's way too early to give up on him.

Im not a jets or wings fan but with what we just saw with hall and larsson the package has to be larkin or equal to larkin.

Just like the Savard trade setup how much the Datsyuk contract would cost to get rid of? Edmonton overpaid, every analyst agrees. That doesn't mean every D is now valued at Hall.

If you can convince some other team to send us a top LD prospect, then a 3-way trade might be able to be worked out  otherwise probably not a good fit for trading partners.

If contract discussions go really bad maybe DeKeyser + Cholowski + unprotected 2017 first might be close to fair value

Would something like Tatar + Mantha + 1st be close?

Value wise? No. That deal is a 1st that won't be a lottery pick, a good middle sixer and a prospect who hasn't adjusted to the pro game like many had hoped. Detroit aren't giving up anything that they don't mind losing there. If you're getting a young promising player like Trouba, there will be a piece or pieces you'd shed a tear to lose.

The other thing to consider is the Jets don't need forwards. We're stocked out the whazoo with young forwards at this point. So we'd turn down anything when the main pieces are young forwards.

What we need are proven top end players and/or defensmen, especially left-handed ones.

Also, someone to take Pavelec off our hands, but that's a whole other story.

As an outsider, Tatar, Mantha and picks are all nice pieces, but Winnipeg is in a weird(awesome) situation where they already have an abundance of similar pieces.

No need for Winnipeg to trade Troubas unless someone blows their doors off.

The overrating of Trouba on these boards is astonishing

It has very little to do with overrating. It has to do with the massive return Larsson just received along with the fact that trading Trouba would definitely make the Jets a worse team. They have no one else capable of stepping up into the top four, so trading him forces them to try and find another available young dman. Most of their top prospects are forwards and they have one of the top prospect pools in the league, so trading him for a forward or multiple pieces makes no sense unless someone makes an offer they can't refuse.

Yet his name seems to pop up on a trade thread every second day...seems pretty contradictory to your bold statement don't you think? obviously the masses from other teams disagree with you. I can certainly say Jets fans are not the one's proposing these offers.

Trouba fills the Jets' greatest need--young, high-end D--and none of the proposals we've seen have offered an upgrade on that. In fact, the offers have mostly been wingers to play behind Wheeler, Ehlers, Laine, Perreault, and (eventually) Connor.

But sure, get indignant...

Larsson was signed to a great contract, Trouba rumored to be wanting a lot of money, perhaps almost twice as much as what Larsson makes. Maybe lowers the return some due to the uncertainty but I can't see a trade fit here that makes sense for both teams unfortunately as I'd love to have Trouba on the Wings. He's exactly what they need and think he's ready for full time top pairing duty.

Määttä - $4.08m
Rielly - $5m
Jones - $5.4m

Who gives a **** if Trouba wants $8.30m...?

Exactly!!! He's only going to get what the market has set for a young defenseman of that caliber give or take. He won't get much more than Jones whether his agent wants it or not unless there is a ridiculous offer sheet that is.
