By no means is Trouba a negative impact on the ice, I think he is a fine player and would have loved to get him on the Wings, but that contract is basically a boat anchor.

I would be interested to know what kind of offers have been floated towards NYR management.

You'd have to think if the Rangers were to get good (read: full) value for him, they are taking on an unwanted contract or two in the process.

Does Marner still play center? Something around Marner and Trouba? Although Rags probably don’t like Marners cap hit.

Trouba is not all there. He's bad around his own net, possibly because he is not as interested in the puck as he is in taking some heads off. He's dirty. He is good with the puck coming out and into the zones and is good around the other net. Zero brains.

Rangers got fleeced.

Trouba is not being traded. His play took a big jump once he got a partner who wasn't Brady Skjei. He brings elements that none of the other D on the Rangers bring. They can't ice six undersized, offense first defensemen. Never say never, but IF Trouba is traded, it will be because the other team offered an absurdly good package. He's not getting cap dumped or anything like that.

You asked if he still plays center, he barely did and when he did he was not good at it

I know he’s been a winger now the last couple of years in Toronto. Also, FYI taking face offs doesn’t always mean that player is the center. Yes, centers take face offs but it’s not always the case. Center is determined by where you play on the ice and your defensive responsibilities.

I bet you wish the Jets had a guy like Trouba.

It’s much harder to replace the skill of DeAngelo & Fox than it would be to find a shutdown Dman, and that can be found for a LOT less than 8 mill. Lindgren is a tough cookie, Miller is a monster, DeAngelo can throw hands with the best of them. I don’t think we’re too soft, and if we traded Trouba for a LD I’d be targeting a big, defensive-minded guy

Watch Chevy accept Skjei as part of a Laine trade.

Would something like Trouba + Buch for OEL make sense for both teams? This is under the impression that Arizona can't move OEL without taking back some sort of expensive contract
Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of the Coyotes wanting to move OEL? Trouba's contract is slightly less cumbersome but does have the benefit of shorter term. Seems almost a wash. Armstrong will be angling for picks after Chayka went to town without lube on the team.

They get 4 years younger and aren't spending 10.5M the following 3 seasons. They also only spend 2M on him this year vs the 4M they would be spending on OEL
