Ottawa has plenty of C and LW depth. Poor RW depth.

Also, they give up the best player in the deal.

Oh, and as a budget team take on salary.

I doubt any Ottawa fans would like this deal.

Echoed. Really don't see why Ottawa would trade Stone in the first place, let alone for a couple worse wingers.

Ottawa wouldn't do that for Stone alone.

Nelson is nice but he would would be on our 2nd/3rd line so why downgrade ?

Bailey is redundant in Ottawa if we wanted to pay a 3rd/4th liner that much we would have kept Chiasson.

Only player that Ottawa would trade Stone for from the Isles is Tavares seeing as he is the only player there better than him.

You cant retain more than 50% of a contract so you would have to retain on both making it so the islanders cant retain on anymore contracts as long as their contracts last.

So we trade our 2nd best center for 2 wingers one of which wouldn't make our Top6 and the other would be on our 4th line if that went through, and one of our NHL ready prospects.

Ottawa passes easily.

Ok so lets try this another way,

What would it take for

Isles to obtain Mika Zibanejad?

Please provide a counter offer.

The thing that irks me the most about the original proposal is the listing of points as if everything is evened out. Again, the team that gets the best player almost always wins the trade. Two average guys aren't worth Stone alone (not even taking into account how fantastic he is defensively).

Dude, he included a 5th round pick to even it out, though!

Pretty much ,their best pieces after him are defensemen .So i dont see a deal here

lemme see....... No

Seriously underrating Sens players and particularly Stone. Nelson and Bailey would not get you Stone alone never mind throwing in a top (huge) prospect.

Both proposals are awful for Ottawa, particularly the OP. We aren't trading one of our best prospects in Nick Paul (the main piece of the Spezza deal for Ottawa) and Zibby, already a 2C with 1C upside), and we most definitely aren't trading Paul and Stone. As others have said, the only way Stone goes to the Islanders is if the deal is centered around Stone and Tavares, that's it. Stone is our best player not named Karlsson.

If Ottawa comes to a standoff with Hoffman though, I could see a trade of Nelson + protected 1st for Hoffman. Mayve we take the 1 year awarded arbitration at 5-6mil instead. Who knows?

I'm going to give the OP the benefit of the doubt... they may not be familiar with Ottawa's situations and how good said players are. But with that said, absolutely no way that Ottawa touches any of that.

I absolutely love the way Stone plays. When imagining perfect fits for Tavares I often think Stone and Forsberg in nashville. In both cases they are and should be untouchable.

I don't know... don't want to get into a debate. But I wouldn't do this from an Isles perspective. Sure, I would say Hoffman has been the more productive player thus far. However, Nelson has scored 20 Goals the last two seasons, and still shows room for growth. Additionally, Hoffman he will be paid substantially more than Nelson and he will be an UFA at the end of his award (not sure about that last bit, please correct me if I'm wrong). I might've been more inclined to do so if Hoffman was a Right handed shot.

But who knows, after this year Hoffman can be putting up near 40 goals... at which point I will most likely have regretted not going with said deal.

Stone is worth significantly more than that package alone.

As others have said, only Tavares on the Islanders would be involved in a trade involving Stone. That will never happen, so might as well move on.
