And here's the thing, I don't remember him going off the board on any of his picks, but a lot were busts. Would I call them mistakes, nope, just the way the draft goes sometimes...

You're 100% right. Buy my point is drafting is not an exact science. Every GM and their staff have major misses, even Lou and his...

Yes which is why I PRAY that of all the places that Malkin/Ledekcy are putting money, I hope it's into the scouting staff. It's as important as having a good GM and coach.

It's up to Lou really. He has full control over everything this team does and where money is allocated, that's just how he operates or he doesn't take the job. Owners are just signing the checks. So hopefully Lou has/is bolstering the scouting group.

Bode Wilde with a goal and an assist as Saginaw beats Barrie 6-3.
GP-51 G-15 A-44 P-59 +19
Also leads all D with 9 PP goals.
Amazing season for Wilde. Especially offensively. He's a rare talent, a BIG kid with great wheels who can also score. Hopefully his defensive play is coming into form. My first look at Wilde was the U18's last spring, and though people were all over his defensive play, I remember thinking how calm and cool he was, and made some great zone exits under duress. You can find several of my posts last summer saying I would be fine with him at 12, who knew we would get him at 41.

I may be in a minority here. But I like Dobson better. I prefer Whalstrom becoming that Tarasenko-like sniper, but I have my reservations. I’d love to eat crow, and could care less; I don’t see him materialize into that 35-40 g, 70-80 pts NYI that he was projected to be.

Nor do I see that 30 goal sniper in Bellows.

As stated, I’m higher on Dobson; he’s the best D prospect we’ve had since Bryan Berard.
