Really though it is not an unusual amount of injuries. We're about league average right now.

This is why depth is important.

Yep. Shows the importance of depth. Hockey is a rough sport. Just hoping the injuries arent for extended amounts of time and we can finda way to stay healthy down the stretch towards the playoffs.

Really?

Games missed (projected starting players)

M.Grabner - 7 (including tonight)
L.Visnovsky - 6
Grabovski - 3 (including tonight)
Calvin de Haan - 3
Travis Hamonic - 1 (including tonight)

20 Games missed by regulars through the first 7 games is about average?

They're on pace for 234 games missed by regulars due to injury.

That seems REALLY high to me.

Is there a website that keeps track of games missed due to injury?

not sure, i just did that myself. Hard to rely on a third party anyway since they would no doubt include 7 games missed for carkner. We all know he would not have played anyway were he healthy. So there's plenty of teams that have players like that 'missing games due to injury' but in reality they were missing those games anyway.

Which is why it wouldn't really matter if you're just interested in the relative injury rate. Unless you think there is some bias that would cause the Islanders to have less players artificially placed on the IR.

I want to say that is only slightly above or near average at season's end, I know for sure that the 95-96 Islanders had 500 something man games lost to injury, and the 96-97 Caps or LA Kings broke the record...if that was a record then 200 something cannot be that bad. There are many teams now likely with 2-3 guys out, so if those guys have been out all year thats easily 15-20 man games alone there.

And if figures that he was playing some of his best hockey to start this season....just our luck. Another one bites the dust.

Injuries always play a role, it's a good thing we finally have the depth to overcome normal injuries. As long as we're not a M.A.S.H. unit like in previous years, we'll be ok.

Damn I REALLY liked Baileys play. What do lines look like now?

Lee-Tavares-Okposo
Grabovski-Nelson-Strome
Kulemin-Frans-Conacher

I mean, we can survive a Bailey broken hand, especially if Grabovski is coming back soon, but like others have said, right when you think this team is going to get everyone in the lineup, someone catches a bad break. A positive to take out of it is we are still finding ways to win games.

That is if Grabovski is ready for Saturday. There is no guarantee of that yet. Although I'm really hoping that is the case or else I'm guessing the Islanders would recall McDonald after just sending him down.

Probably, although you can't say for sure.

I think Coma Chef is done on the first line, and I think we should keep the Grabovski-Nelson-Strome line going (once Grabovski is back in the lineup).

We do know that Lee and Nielsen have chemistry and Cappy seemed to like the idea of Kulemin with JT and KO. Lots of possibilities.

Can we play a game where someone doesn't get hurt. What did we do to the hockey gods?

If Grabovski is healthy:

Kulemin-Tavares-Okposo
Grabovski-Nelson-Strome
Lee-Nielsen-Conacher
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

I like these lines although I'd consider switching Conacher and Clutterbuck

Hopefully they are saving up to be completely healthy for playoffs.
