Sure he could. Fasching and Wally at least know how to play in their own end at the NHL level, Isk has to prove that before anything else. His offensive numbers are basically the same as last year but his +/- is well below last year.
Are you sure about that? He’s lost in his own zone and when he does get the breakout pass it’s usually taken away because he’s never on the move. Wally is up because if they sent him down, he’d get claimed and I don’t know if Lou wants to sacrifice him like that.

I don't know which end they know how to play in, but for either of those guys it isn't the D or O zone in my eyes

For all of our frustrations with him, Wally is barely a minus for his career in 191 games

The Isles secret plan for Wally is for him to be a Black Ace for the playoffs…

Right now, he’s cheap depth, that’s about it.

That’s cool but Wally is a lost little boy without the puck, and with it he hasn’t lit the lamp like he “should”.

Not sure what the future is for him but your doesn’t look great right now. Maybe trade him to Nashville in the off-season for a 3rd if we’re lucky?

Yup. Keep Iskhakov as a 3 on 3 & shootout specialist. Just don't play him during regulation.:help:
Ok, crazy take here by me.

I know this is not going to happen, but I’m now curious if it is within the rules of happening…

Can a backup goalie shed the majority of his equipment, and then participate in the shootout as a shooter?

I guess I’m looking at a rare “Shohei Ohtani” player who can give you at least AHL level goalie back-up play. Then also a wicked sick sweet saucy lit (whatever slang kids use for superlatives these days) shootout goal.

You hide your shootout specialist in a third string goalie, who plays every game as the backup to the top two.

Now that is some Snow/Dubas melding progressive thinking right there! :sarcasm:

This is some next level thinking. A Darren Pang-sized 3rd string goalie.

my only solution is to offer him a solid two way deal that has a good base salary in the AHL .

isles were lucky on the injury front this season at ''forward'' but that can change next season opening the door just a crack for Ish to get a looksie .

some have said that he doesnt have a good speed burst which is critical for small players to succeed in the nhl . if thats the case and he's uninterested in resigning a fair two-way then so be it

I'd offer a 1 way deal for 2 years.

This is the first time I have seen good critical analysis on what this player lacks besides his Height.
If this is true, then I "Understand" maybe why he has not gotten a call up.

haha , thanks but I cannot take credit for this as I've just used what some of the respected members have stated from time to time in regards to his skating / speed

Isk is Martin St Louis without the Martin St Louis.

Hows that for critical analysis?

Yes I love it, Subtle as a Sledgehammer ;)
It’s just lack of a burst, he isn’t slow persay but in traffic he just gets caught up and doesn’t have the speed burst to get away from pack and find space kinda like Barzal does. On the PP, he can get his points for sure and he’s legit a Nielsen lite in shootout but 5 on 5 and defensively he’s a European league-Ahl player. Now it was rumored isles wouldn’t trade h8m at deadline so maybe he has his believers in the organization.

IF this is true, then the parent club needs to break up the logjam on wing. Cizikas as a wing, along with Clutterbuck, Martin, Fasching, Wahlstrom are all blocking Iskhakov.

For starters, don't re-sign Clutterbuck and Martin.

That reminds me - how many consecutive years is it now that Lou has traded the 1st round pick? :sarcasm:
