Is Tyler Bozak underrated?

Is this a joke? Saying this 32 year old kid almost scored 30 is like saying Matt Martin, the teen, almost scored 20. He is what he is. Anything outside of a one year spike in production is pretty improbably. If anything, he's more likely to decline now.

Can we create an additional Main Board? The origional one can be for leafs, then a secondary where there is not a new thread every time something new happens in Toronto?

Yeah God forbid Montrealers make threads about Leafs players, don't they know that HF is for discussing only the other 30 teams???

The one weird thing with Bozak is that people consider him decent because of his two way abilities. His offence is meh. He provides almost zero towards negative defensively. I think for how we acquired him it’s a steal but hardly irreplaceable and he’s always been put in a great situation in Toronto which he might not get on other teams.

Career wise he was a nobody then got overrated for a while and now underrated i would think.

In a very sheltered role he is producing well boasting all around good advanced stats, even if you up his usage he would still do fine(aka 3rd line center with low mins and easy comp to medium mins with a bit harder usage on the 3rd line).

Bozak just plays non event hockey that he should be good in till his late 30's(barring crazy injury), that and his lateish nhl start. Not only that but bozak is money in the shootout, great on the draw, and 40-50 point center on the 3rd line is just great value. I was so against bozie for a longtime, but as a leafs fan i wouldn't be opposed to signing him 3.5$ x4 or something.

Bozak is also now dominating possession now that he's being used in a more appropriate role.

Is he the best 3rd line center in hockey? probably yes.

Bryan Little is a third line center right now and has a higher PPG than him and is better defensively.

thought he was on the wing now?

but yeah, very close comp between the two.

last 2yrs:

Little: ES (B+qoc), 1.94p/60, 1.48p1/60, 51.1cf% (-0.2rel), 51.6xgf% (-1.5rel) / PP 4.66p/60, 2.83p1/60
Bozak: ES (C+ qoc), 1.95p/60, 1.47p1/60, 51.3cf% (+0.7rel), 51.2xgf% (+0.4rel) / PP 5.01p/60, 3.62p1/60

damn close. bozak does better with relative possession, but does it in easier matchups so that's a wash. bozak does a bit better on the PP, though.

Nah, he's a centre still

The only question is that wingers are our only strength. We don't have a great deal of C's or D in the pipeline.

He has some offensive skill, is good at faceoffs, not very good at defense. He's a guy who can play in your top 6 because of his offense if he is needed but on a good team he is a bottom 6 player. He is mediocre, middle of the pack. I think that is a totally fair rating.
