Canadians are so annoying with the whole "Cup coming home" shtick

Im a canadian and I agree.

Don't care about the other canadian teams, although I have a soft spot for the jets since that fanbase is so ravenous after getting their team back.

Canadians can be a tad condescending with this kind of stuff, no doubt.

Montreal - Ottawa (potential)
Vancouver - Calgary

2 teams gone already.

At least if Ottawa wins I can see a cup parade.

On topic, mathematically, Canada has almost a third of the chances.

As a good a chance as the country has had in many years.

If the Habs do not win, I will be bandwagonning for any Canadian team from the West that is still alive.

Meh, and Americans are just annoying when they make blanket statements like that! :sarcasm:

The Canucks lineup looks like the United Nations! These are CLUB TEAMS. The only time I root for a Canadian Team is when they're wearing Team Canada jerseys! Please get off the Cup comes home stuff.

I didn't know the Cup's home was Canada. I thought it was just Toronto.

Was very confused opening this thread.

Montreal is not good enough... They have the best goalie in the world.

He hasnt exactly been all that in the playoffs.

I do think he will continue his stellar play from the regular season this time around though, still doubt the Habs got what it takes to go all the way. It would take a miracle for them not to face either Bolts or Sens and as they have a combined 1-7 against those two teams I think they wont pass the second round.

Only one that even has a chance is Montreal but even they won't win.

So no. The cup will be staying home in the States.

Enough of this cup coming home to Canada bullcrap.

But considering most teams are loaded with Canadian players, the cup will find its way to Canada regardless of who wins.

A place.
The cup is from England, so it probably won't return home this year.

Lord Stanley bought it from a London jeweler if I remember correctly.

Wonder if there's anyway to find out which jeweler and if they still exist.

But anyway this discussion is moot. The original Stanley Cup is housed permanently at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto because it's considered to be too brittle to be awarded anymore. It's not going anywhere, and certainly not back to England.

There are currently two duplicates in use: the "Presentation" cup, which is the one that is awarded every year, and the "replica" cup, which is displayed in the HHOF while the Presentation cup is somewhere else.

Montreal always has to be the team to do it. If they make a final, it's pretty much always a victory.
