Is there really much of a difference between 5'11" and 6'?

by the way, is there a real source for Height/Weight listings?

I believe Gionta is listed at 5'7" but I've heard many an analyst say that if you meet him in person, 5'5" is where he's at.
Even Yzerman was exaggerated at 5'11". Bob Errey played with him in Peterborough and he said "If Yzerman's 5'11", then I'm 6'1". He admitted that many players, including himself and Stevie, would put socks in their shoes, at pre-draft evaluations, to make themselves look taller.

That's true, but you can add weight, not height.
Scouts and hockey people are obsessed with the 6' marker. Besides, most guys that are listed as 5'11" in the NHL are probably closer to 5'9".

Definitely. Naslund is a legit 5'11'', one of the few I've seen. Its funny, his teamates Cooke and Morrison also get the 5'11'' listing, but they're clearly shorter - 2 inches in Matty Cooke's case!.

I'm noticeably shorter than most people at work, my friends, and just walking around, but I sure don't notice it on the ice at all.

There are quite a few players that I know arent the height they're listed as.

Kariya is NOT 5'11. He's more like 5'8.
Kris Russell is NOT 5'11. 5'8ish...

Näslund is listed at 6'0" at the official Canucks site, and that makes sense as he's always been listed at 183 cm in Sweden, and 6'0" is 182.88 cm.

Crosby is probably around 200. Probably like 195 or so, give or take 5 lbs. He has amazing leg strength, and he has added abunch of overall strength since being in the NHL.

He is very well built for his age. That is probably a huge boost for him in his career.

Crosby has tree trunk legs and also a built upper body. Probably 5'10.5, 195 or so. Big kid.
