Nope. No one here even talks about it. Most people don't even know there is an NHL team coming here.

Most people? I doubt that. There isn't much new worthy going on that's worth talking about currently. We are still a year and half away from the team taking the ice.

I see about 150 patients a week. Since the news came out that Seattle is getting a team all those weeks ago, the percentage of those who know that Seattle is getting an NHL hockey team I would guess to be 25-35%.

Obviously that's my own experience. That certainly may not be a reflection of how many people actually know.

But I am confident in saying this: almost no one cares that Seattle is getting an NHL team. Most people don't even know what to say. They have never been to a game, don't know the rules, aren't interested.

The Palm Springs idea seems like a nightmare the city is upset they have to hire police and firemen for something like this to run and they can’t tax the tribe because it on native land. The locals are not happy because there is no parking in the area, the city does not want to pay for the parking and the tribe wants nothing to do with paying for that many parking spaces so they are trying to get away with few spaces and just getting everyone to fill up the local neighborhoods with random concert cars...
The tribe is also planning on making money by hosting UFC events and having top A list performers and I have no idea how that is going to fly in a 11 thousand seat arena.

Glendale went through similar contortions when the Tohono O’odham nation came in the back door and dropped their plans for a casino just north of the Coyotes arena and Westgate. Years of legal wrangling and finger pointing later the casino is opening next week and you see barely a peep about it.

Seattle wanted to start in fall 2020. They'd be moving faster if they had to, but they don't.

Naming the team is a pretty big moment, it should be done during a time where they can maximize the press behind it.

they could not guarantee Key Arena would be ready and that was a big problem

they will announce their name either during the cup final or at the NHL entry draft

That's not what the team said. The team said the name will be announced in march and it'll be announced in Seattle.

...How the Hell are hey late for the coaching staff announcement?
Imagine getting hired 17 months before the team has any players and 19 months before training camp.

Lots of time to sit on your ass and pretend to draw X's and O's, while just collecting a paycheck.

Im not sure why anyone is bothered by this. We all know what's going to happen. They're going to pick a name, everyone will complain. They're going to unveil a logo, everyone will complain. They're going to unveil the jerseys...and you guessed it...everyone will complain. Why the hurry?

So everyone can complain!

There was no way that building was going to be done in time for 20-21. Might have been possible if they weren't required to keep the old roof.
New construction has plenty of challenges but ask any builder and they'll confirm that remodeling anything is 10x the PITA. This building qualifies as both.

There isn’t much interest when I stayed there the night before G7 2011 SCF and went out no one had a clue a hockey game was being played the next day in Vancouver.

The most important thing for this franchise is that the NBA doesn’t return and so far so good there. Once the puck drops people will care. They supported MLS before anyone. Sounds like they are putting the cart before the horse with the tickets and scalpers etc but if the team isn’t good anyone who wants tickets will be able to get them. Can’t see them having the success Vegas did but they’ll have some nice players.

People in Seattle have been attending hockey games for 4 decades. Most current NHL cities don't give a crap about the finals unless their team is in it.

Someone would have sued and forced them and the city to keep the roof. Also they gotten a 80m tax credit for it being a historic landmark.
