We would need to Spread the talent but i think it could work

Hall Drai Purcell
Perron RNH Eberle
Pouliot Yakimov Yakipov

Could work , is this anywhere near ideal ? Nope, is it worth a shot ? I think so
Obviously this depends on Yakimovs gaining camp , and I know two rookie Centres in our top 9 , Im off my rocker. Yet this is the hand we are dealt and baring a trade for a 2nd line C , I believe this is the best top 9 we can send out for opening night

Can I have some of what you're smoking please

Yakimov is not going to make the opening night roster. The guy hasn't even played on NA ice yet... he needs AT LEAST half a season in the AHL at a bare minimum to get acclimatized to the game over here on smaller ice and the more physical style of play.

I'm really high on Yakimov.. but even if he looks good I seriously cannot see the Oilers pushing him into the lineup early.

Even if injuries hit and they are forced to push players up.. it will be guys like Acton or even Miller that get the callup early on over Yakimov imo.

If Lander and Arcobello both have a strong camp, I'm really curious what the Oilers decision for Draisaitl would be.

That will be very interesting, indeed. You have to believe, that, while they will never say it publicly, deep inside, the organization wants to keep Drai up with the big club.

He will have to be obviously inferior to both Arco and Lander, in order to be sent back to junior. If its close between, say, Lander and the big Saxon, they will probably move one to wing, an keep them both.

OK guys i just wanted to ask this question even though i know i could've just asked this in a different open thread

Do you guys think Draisatl is NHL ready? Just give your honest opinion and how you guys think his point production would be.

In my opinion, I think he is NHL ready. However, he should be playing sheltered third line minutes with some PP time.
I see him getting 12-15 goals and around 20-25 assists

He put up one less point then RNH did the year he was drafted with no help on PA . He bigger and strong then the Nuge . He protects the puck better then the Nuge . He can pass as good as RNH . Why wouldn't he be ready ? His skating Maybe , but to get better you have to play against faster players . He will be ready and in 2 years will play tougher minutes then the Nuge , while the Nuge will out score him he will play a more important part of our turn around

Most of us haven't even watched him play a full game. Nobody can really predict weather he's ready or not until we see him play come pre season and his first 9 games.

But they could with RNH . All I am saying his draft year he was as good as RNH , maybe better if you consider who he played with . May RNH goes beast mode after a good off season of train .

Yeah i've seen him play full games. He's the player i wanted us to draft and thats why i was hoping we didnt win the draft lottery. He is a big protector of the puck and he slows the game down to a tee. We haven't had a centre like that in a while. His passing is great and imo good as RNHs. His skating is so so but thats something that can be corrected. He has size and skill. Isn't that what we need at centre? I think he will beat out Arco for the second line or third line position.

He's not as ready as we want him to be, but he'll be ok if he's used properly.

Hopkins(Hall, Eberle) - Main scoring line. Gets a ton of offensive zone starts and some defensive zone starts.
Gordon(Pouliot, Perron) - Main shutdown line. Gets majority of the defensive zone starts.
LD - Sheltered scoring line (Yakupov, Purcell). - Gets starts VS inferior or tired out opponents.
Acro (Hendricks + One of Pitlick or lander and sometimes Gazdic will play.) - Energy line that would play quite well if Pitlick can stay healthy.

Has Purcell ever played Centre?

I know he is a RW but I seem to recall a few instances where he was played in that role.

That might be something to ponder (or not). Some extra size/experience down the middle. I could be totally wrong. If so, nevermind.

Yeah but i hear he's not great defensively so I'd leave him at RW if it was me
