I have no sympathy for him. He refuses to learn to bunt to beat the shift. Like I have no doubt he's trying hard in BP and the film room and whatnot but refuse to adapt and you deserve to hit .100
^ that actually had me cracking the **** up ahah
I'd love for him to hit a few dingers at least. Joey Gallo gets away with being an absolute trash hitter.
Gallo is the perfect example of why batting average doesn't determine if you're a good hitter or not.Career 110 WRC+ hitter is trash?
It's a small sample but this is his general production when not hitting HR...7 strike outs in his last 9 AB, 2.5x as many strike outs as hits on the season, and of course .171 average. I mean he basically becomes current Chris Davis once he loses his power years down the line, idk how that can really be argued.Gallo is the perfect example of why batting average doesn't determine if you're a good hitter or not.
He’s been a positive hitter in all of his full seasons in the majors. It's a small sample but this is his general production when not hitting HR...7 strike outs in his last 9 AB, 2.5x as many strike outs as hits on the season, and of course .171 average. And to be fair I like watching him hit, just like I did Davis when he had power.
He's a worse Adam Dunn, he has great power, but that's it. I wouldn't call that a great hitter. He’s been a positive hitter in all of his full seasons in the majors.

Joey Gallo » Statistics » Batting | FanGraphs BaseballCherry picking now. He's had 3 seasons with 500 at bats or more and wRC+ below 100.
I thought we were talking about Davis.

He also walked more, his OBP was .381 during his good years from 2001-2010. Batted .250 during that time.seriously, as much as Dunn got ragged on for being a 2 result hitter he still had a BA ~40 points higher than Gallo
Dunn was the best 3 outcome player the game has ever had.seriously, as much as Dunn got ragged on for being a 2 result hitter he still had a BA ~40 points higher than Gallo
He's up there but I would say Jeff Mathis, Garrett Hampson, and Richie Martin Jr. have all been worse.Yonder Alonso
.179/.276/.303
Dunn was the best 3 outcome player the game has ever had.
Mathis is one of the best defensive catchers in the past few dozen years. .190 career average and still a 5.0 career WARHe's up there but I would say Jeff Mathis, Garrett Hampson, and Richie Martin Jr. have all been worse.
