He's pretty awful. McGwire had some bad years average wise in the early 90's but he kept it over .200, got walked a lot and still cranked homers.

Now hitless in 61 straight plate appearances, and 0-for-53 going back to last season.

Do you think he retires at some point or keeps playing and collecting $23 million a season for the next 3 seasons after this one?

Would you walk away from seventy million dollars?
I could see him doing it at a certain point or if Baltimore offered him a buyout package. Lets say he's genuinely going to be one of the worst ever for the next 4 seasons, I doubt he's going to want to go to work every day knowing it's going to be bad, can't be good for his mental health.

Maybe now MLB will prescribe him back Adderall, Vyvanse doesn't seem to cut it.

being the absolute worst player ever would stink but at the fine warmth of $70 million I think I could get over it

yeah nah

He'll gladly be a $70,000,000 worst player ever.

It's like when fans throw out the scenario "would rather get paid $10 million total but win championships and couple MVPs -or- be paid $70 million and never win anything and be the worst player ever." Give me option B every single time. Only thing real is the money and the miles.

You're all speaking through poor people's eyes lol.

Chris Davis is already rich. If it's grating on him enough to impact his mental health and daily living I could see him at least going on a loa.

Right, he's already made about $120M in salary in his career. Who knows what's left though. Look at what Berglund did this year and he's made way less in his career.

I learned a long time ago that while money is a necessity, it's not everything. Davis is in a position that he never has to work another day in his life if he doesn't want to. That's a liberating position to be in.

Damn! I was definitely hoping he'd go 0-for on the season, but he picked up a hit today

If you're so rich already you'll never worry about money again, you start worrying about legacy more than making more money. That's why all those moguls get involved in humanitarian ventures, social projects and crap. You want to die with people thinking 'wow what a great guy he was' not 'wow what a greedy p.o.s.' .

^ that actually had me cracking the **** up ahah

I'd love for him to hit a few dingers at least. Joey Gallo gets away with being an absolute trash hitter.
