I think Anisimov is a solid 2/3 C who brings a lot of versatility to his game. He isn't useless in his own end, has size/reach, and can skate pretty well. He's got good hands and a decent shot. He can also play wing as well as center.

Downside is he's prone to taking big hits and has an injury history.

He has very good chemistry with Kane and Panarin. If he's your #2 C, you don't have to go out and get someone else immediately. Long term, I'd be looking to develop another 1/2 C from within.

He isn't even a 2nd line C

He is a 3rd line C being slotted above his role because Hawks lack a true top 6 C to play with Kane

Yes, in the proud tradition of guys like Steve Rucchin, Brendan Morrison, Daymond Langkow, etc etc.

When you have two highly talented offensive 1st line wingers with good chemistry sticking them with a defensively responsible 2nd/3rd line center.

He's a 2.5

Capable of being a #2, but ideally, he's a #3. Great chemistry with two very talented wingers doesn't change anything.

We can debate about where he ranks in terms of importance to the Hawks, but we can all agree unequivocally that he is not a #1C

Isn't it weird? A players plays on the best line in the world and isn't even 2C, and some 1C plays on a line of suckers and still is 1C?

This is a more silly question than an Oilers trade proposal thread...

Solid player, that I like..but his career high in points is 44pts...6 years ago

No. The guy takes care of the defensive side of the game and any points are just bonuses. He just happens to play in between 2 guys who had some of the best chemistry in the league so the points came.
