What's nice is that this will end up being practically the same team as last year..lol

Only 3 defensive spots and 5 forward spots open (essentially). Although we shall definitely have a new look in goal.

I wouldnt be surprised to see one of those forward spots go to Dany Roussin to play along Crosby. Much the way they used Parenteau with Bouchard a few years ago.

It won't be the same team if Canada loses Phaneuf, Coburn, Stewart, Carter, etc. to NHL teams come October.

It would be nice to see Crosby and Roussin playing together. I thought Crosby didn't have the greatest chemistry with his linemates last tournament.
I hope Crosby gets 1st line ice time.

Is anyone a little surprised Brule wasn't invited?
I guess there were very few spots available because of all the returning members.

WJC team from what I know of these players who I'd like.

Defenceman

Seabrooke
Coburn
Belle
Phaneuf
Weber
Barker
Bissonette

Pretty much a WHL All-Star defence.

Forwards

Carter
Richards
Getzlaf
Dawes
Crosby
Colliton
Dixon
Stewart
Ladd
Fehr
Meyer
Chipchura
Picard

If the NHL is locked out can Staal, Horton and Bergeron be on the team?

Goalies

Houle
Dubnyk

A very big, skilled physical team who I will expect as always to win the Gold but more so than any other team the last few years. Thats one of the best looking teams I've seen in years at the WJC.

Home of the 2005 Memorial Cup
Corey Perry will definately be on this years team as he was robbed last year. It would be great to see David Bolland from the KNights joining him but we'll have to see. If Bolland isn't on the team this year maybe next year.

Kind of off-topic, but what is your take on Picard, Monsieur Laprise? I watched him probably close to 20 times this year, but could never come to an opinion on him. Any thoughts?

Should be soon, assuming there will be another Lake Placid Challenge (held in August). That's where USA Hockey gets 40+ of the WJC eligible guys, splits them into two teams, and goes against the national teams of Sweden and Finland. As opposed to the Canadian team, the U.S. should feature some considerable turnover. Guys like Schremp, Bobby Ryan, A.J. Thelen, etc will probably be featured performers.

The invitations have already been made but not made public. They should be released soon. Don't expect to see Bobby Ryan on the invitee list though, I believe the only 87's to be invited are Phil Kessel and Jack Johnson.

Thanks for the insights. Any idea why Ryan was excluded? Any idea what CHL Players have been invited?

Which Picard lol

Defensmen - Posued, he is calm, he has started to use his big frame more. Improved his skating and has an amazing shot which he should use more.

Forward - I think he is overrated, but still a good prospect, i have him rated aroundf 18-22. Awkward skater, but knows how to score.

For the record, I meant the CB d-man. Considering the sequence of posts, I can't believe I didn't specify. Thanks though, for both, man.

I'm surprised theie's no Latendresse or Brule. Are they in a U18 at that time?

The only way I can't see Crosby being put on the number one line is if Bergeron, Burns and Horton came to play. I would have them out #1, and Crosby out #2.

Otherwise I would give Crosby the reigns and tell him to run with it.
