Really surprised that Erat returned Forsberg. Erat is a good player, but he's nearing the end of his prime if he hasn't reached it already. Latta is OK, but nothing special.

Mr. LaRose,

Just because LaRose is worthless to the Canes doesn't mean he wouldn't return anything. STEVE MASON, Jerred Smithson and Ryan O'Byrne returned some value even though they were practically worthless to their former teams.

Best regards,
VWG

Wait a second, where did this "worthless to only this team but would have value to others" business come from? The refrain from the chorus here has always been; "LaRose doesn't belong in the NHL". Period. Aren't those other teams in the NHL? If so, how could this AHLer undeservedly taking up a roster spot in the NHL and logjamming the likes of poor Zack Boychuck by virtue of one misguided GM's obsession have any value to the other 29?

I must have missed where the consensus of the ones of who have daily fits about his existence became one where he's NHL worthy, and therefore has value to anyone.

Dumping a LaRose or Corvo for a 7th is not just about the pick. It's about freeing up space on our roster for young player to develop and for tanking without telling your player to tank. Hell they should be waived at worst! By keeping the worthless vets that have no future with the team's success you only end up drafting at 9 while everyone else develops their youth and finds themselves drafting a franchise player. He all but admitted that the team sucks but did nothing to improve the situation. JR should be fired (I know, not happening)

Yes yes, we all know that the likes of POS and Boychuck etc would be fine NHLers today if only there were a "Jobs Program" NHL team where they didn't have to outplay anyone for roster spots and so forth and so on and grab up all the top picks and tear the league up like Edmonton is doing. And yes, we all know how vets are worthless because young teams, like ours for instance in comparison to others, do so well with righting their own ship when things go awry...like ours is now.

So we've head all this. What I'm interested in is this new idea that LaRose is considered as an NHLer worth something, anything.

The LaRose hate is getting a little ridiculous. He is what he is and what he's always been: a good 3rd/4th liner that might chip in offensively on a blue moon.

It's not his fault he's being put in the Top 6 or the PP. It's not his fault JR overpaid for believing LaRose was something he isn't.

When LaRose leaves the team (likely this offseason, barring a big discount), he should be remembered as a good energy guy and fan favorite, rather than this fantasy super villain some on this board have built him up to.

Just saw something about the 'Carolina Panthers' roll across NBC Sports' trade deadline ticker.

Perhaps whatever caused Forsberg to drop in the draft last year was legit? I wonder how much people would care if his name weren't Forsberg, as well. As silly as it is, having the same unique last name as an all-time great I think influences us, myself included.

Waiving them does nothing. They are on 1-way contracts. Their salaries and cap hits would still count.

He had a good year this year though, so who knows. Still think it's a great get by Nashville as Erat is on the wrong side of 30

Mrs. LaRose,

I'm extremely sorry, you are exactly right. What was I ever thinking?

Best regards,

12th place after tonight, tied with 13th.

Thank god JR didn't attempt to buy anyone.

this. Not to mention if this team had better options, Larose probably wouldn't play half as much. He was never slotted to be a first liner or second liner on this team this year for any long period.

Not really news, but Rutherford basically confirms that their first, 2nd and Dalpe specifically were off the table. Surprised he wouldn't even listen to any deal involving Dalpe given that he hasn't really done anything yet in his career. He should be waiver eligible next year, right?
