If you were to offer Talbot a contract extension right now, what would you offer him?

I'd be a bit hesitate to sign a goalie during a hot streak. I'd rather wait until the offseason, and get the biggest sample size possible. Especially as neither has even 100 games played yet. (though Talbot should hit that by the end of the season). Who knows, in another 10 games Nilsson may have the #1 job back.

Wait until the end of the season. There's zero demand for starting goalies in the league, so it's not like Talbot has a ton of flight options, and Nilsson RFA.

I still see Brossoit as the goalie with the highest upside in the system, so I personally like 2 years for Talbot, but 3 is good too.

15/16.......16/17.......17/18.........18/19.......19/20
Talbot.......Talbot......Talbot........Talbot.......Brossoit
Nilsson......Nilsson.....Brossoit.....Brossoit

Holy crap! Stability in net! :m-dance:

This thread on Talbot signing is so much like the other thread on Talbot signing where everybody was talking about pretty much exactly this..

Sign him up, make it a quick deal. If 3.5M X3 doesn't work I go higher either in salary or years.

A hot Streak? Through more than 50NHL games across seasons his stats are similar to Johnathon Quick. not that I'm making any comparisons, just saying.

he's been lights out now since Early December.

That clock you hear ticking is Talbots negotiating price going up with every excellent save and stellar game.

The stupidest thing the Oilers could do in this instance is wait for show me. They would have to be blind not to know what they got here.

I think 3x3 or 3.5x4 is pretty reasonable. I wouldn't give him more than 4M on a long-term deal.

I think 3.5M x 3 is good and fair. I do see it is top end, as I can't see a fourth year or more dollars working out for the Oilers without some give on the other side.

I cannot see someone else willing to give him a better deal.

Really been great to see Talbot get his confidence and play well. Him and Nilsson in goal is a solid enough combination. The issue for the team isn't goaltending for once.

Three years is a bit of a risk. Hope the number is under 3 million per.

I would love it if the number was under 3, but I think anything under 4 is a win for the our cap.

Absolutely awesome to see Talbot "Kiprusoff" the Flames last night.

I personally would have went as long as 4 years, but I think 3 is perfect.
