This team must waste a lot of money on boats.

Its the worst gimmick ever, burn the boats is hilarious and if players use the expression as a rally point lol

how about? Relentless, determined, unstoppable... crosby neve stops

its better then turn around go back and light fires and burn our oppositions escape vehicles you know just incase.

"Burn the boats" isn't referring to your enemies' boats, just so you know.

And if they are your own boats your people are gonna be like...you know we could have used those to set up trade and logistics now we have mo boats and just are stuck here...burn the boats is a bad idea!

There is so much fail to your post...my goodness  You clearly don't understand what the saying means which only makes your post doubly amusing. It has nothing to do with the opposition.

The saying reflects the mentality of relentlessness, determination, etc (all of those things that you're suggesting to be used instead). The story illustrates the importance of perseverance and team spirit. Burning the boats means not looking for an escape, no excuses. Every step forward is the unknown and you don't know the adversity that may await you but with no escape, you keep moving forward, willing and ready to face and overcome that adversity and to do so with a team mentality.

It's three words that encompasses more meaning than just 'determination' or 'relentlessness', etc. You were clearly blind sided by the simplicity of the three words for you to notice the array of meaning behind it. If you take the time to understand something before making fun of it, in the future you'll avoid wasting any kind of time writing posts like that one.

It's a reference to the Spanish conquistadors, more specifically. Hernan Cortés destroyed his ships in order to leave his men no option but to go forward.

In today's economy, boats are pretty expensive... can't we just drive them away from the shore, and just come back when the war is done? It may lower ticket prices a little bit.

If you go to war, using a boat, you can't retreat with said boat if you have destroyed it after landing at your destination. You must go forward and fight hard.

Still sounds better than bringing in a 1300lb rock into the ACC and saying "Pound the Rock"

"He had a story about people crossing the sea to take the treasure," James Reimer recalled. "When they got there they burnt their boats so they either had to take their treasure or die. That's what 'Burn the Boats' means."

It obviously means to burn boatloads of cash and capspace on old aging stars. :sarcasm:

Better idea:

Chop boats up
Use materials to make hockey sticks
Play hockey
???
Make new boats out of used hockey sticks
Go home
