If you could, which group of players would you add to your team?

Which group would you take?

My goodness, Crosby, Ovechkin, and Malkin are going down as all-time greats. They are locks for the Hall of Fame. In the second group, McDavid is well on his way, but the other guys still have a long way to go (and I love MacKinnon).

Right now, I'd take the Big 3 in their prime. Remember, who's to say that you can't attract other good players by having those 3 already. Both teams would have salary cap issues very quickly, so you might actually be better off with the fewer, but more elite superstars.

3 "generational" players, or basically comprising 5/6ths of your Top-6 of elite scorers? I take the depth of elite scorers easily. There's no way you're stopping all that extremely high-end depth. You're better insulated against injury through diversification of assets. And if you want, you could run 3-deep on #1Centers. That's unbeatable.

On the Oilers right now? I'd take the 3 prime very easily since we already have McDavid.

Ovechkin-McDavid-Draisaitl
RNH-Crosby-Malkin

It wouldn't even matter what the bottom-6 would look like.

Starting from scratch I would take the 5.

Option B

I initially thought there were only 4 players so was gonna vote A. But with 5 id pick B. It helps that im as high on those 5 as i am.

Group B gives you 5/6 of the top 6 players on your roster while all being elite 1st line players and 1 player on the level of the Big 3 of group A. 5 players who are currently putting up 1.2+ points per game is too good to pass up.

Auston Matthews - Connor McDavid - Brendan Gallagher
Max Domi - Nathan MacKinnon - Mikko Rantanen
Jonathan Drouin - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Nikita Kucherov
Paul Byron - Phillip Danault - Tomas Tatar
Andrew Shaw

I'll take that depth and ability to create 3 high end scoring lines.

Option B for depth.

Gaudreau-McDavid-MacKinnon
Tkachuk-Monahan-Kuch
Rantanen-Matthews-Lindholm

Can't get much more disgusting than that.

Peak Ovechkin averages nearly the same amount of goals than Matthews does points.

I'll take the 3 without a doubt.

3 generational players vs 1. Peak Crosby/Malkin/Ovechkin can each carry their own lines and put up 110+ points doing it.

Rantanen is not elite

[mod]
for how long has this "non elite" player been leading the NHL in scoring already? also for how many games over 100 has he been over PPG player?

Your opinions are a joke, did you know that?

Iirc the 5 young guys in this poll rank 1st (Matthews) 2nd (MacKinnon) 4th (Kucherov) 6th (McDavid) and somewhere in the 60s (Rantanen) in 5v5 p1/60 since the start of 17-18. One of these players is not like the others.
