Where would you want to rebuild it? :sarcasm: But seriously though, here's a little mind exercise for those of you bored at work.

Let's say the HoF was completely scrapped and replaced with 2 different Halls: The Hall of Truly Great and the Hall of Very Good.

Who would you admit into the Hall of Truly Great? Here's a first shot without doing a ton of research, so no disrespect intended to anyone obvious I've missed.

A couple Leafs/guys who made careers elsewhere but had cups of coffee in Toronto...

Charlie Conacher
Dave Keon
Ted Kennedy
Syl Apps
Dickie Moore
Brian Leetch
George Hainsworth

Others:
Joe Malone
Bill Durnan
Georges Vezina

Obviously subjective, but there are some guys there that you absolutely cannot leave off the list.

Missing the best of the early Ottawa Senators:

Frank Nighbor, Cy Denneny, Georges "Buck" Boucher, Clint Benedict

Charlie Conacher was mentioned already, but Busher Jackson should be added, as well.

Others of the top of my head who I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Marcel Pronovost, Black Jack Stewart, Bill Quackenbush, Charlie Gardiner, Nels Stewart

If Babe Siebert is in, then Ebbie Goodfellow has to be.

Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe, Bernie Parent, Dale Hawerchuk

I have never been sold on him. He always seemed to me like a passenger on great teams.

2 first Team All Stars, 2 second Team All Stars
11 All Star games, at least 6 of them earned.

I guess it depends on what the standard is, but I don't see him as any weaker than Cournoyer or Worsley, both of whom are in the original post.

Edit: I guess Butch Bouchard (in the original post) is a better comparable, as he's a defenseman.

I don't care if this is a higher standards hall, Makarov and Mark Howe still belong.

Also add Syd Howe, who has not been mentioned yet.
