If team USA would be a NHL team, would they win the cup?

True.

When we now read these threads here it becomes immediately in the mind that what kind idiots are pulling strings in the NHL and in The Olympic committee?

How it would be impossible to take few weeks break in a middle of season to actually check how it goes if top NHL players are arranged by their nationality, competing each others using some simple two divisions of 4 + playoffs format?

How NHL and IOC can be so f*.....* shortsighted?

I mean: EVERY SEASON.

excellent irony.

i could give some details but why waste time.

a "few weeks" break in the middle of the season? what a dandy.

The OP did like the USA 3rd team haha. Based on talent and existing chemistry I'd have a Werenski and Jones pair, a Slavin and Pesce pair, and then have the final few guys of Trouba, McAvoy, Hannifan, McD, Ghost, Carlson, and a couple other battle it out. USA has by far the best defensive players in the world. Then a top 6 of Eichle, Mathews, Kane, Wheeler, Johny hockey and Kessel would put up 6 goals a game. Side note how does everyone always forget Schnieder is an American goalie the guy is a beast when he has a D playing for him although Helly and Gibson would both be great.

The way people hype the US up as some sort of the threat to Canada that is a really terrible forward group and a very weak defense (although young).

Also hopefully they play Hellebuyck over Quick as that would show the coaching is subpar just like the team.
