IMO you take McDonagh, Fowler or Shattenkirk over half of those guys on D. For forwards not sure how anyone choses Abdelkader and Brown over the likes of Saad, T. Johnson, Pacioretty, Oshie, or even JVR. Also not sure why you would take Hellebuyck over Gibson

When we now read these threads here it becomes immediately in the mind that what kind idiots are pulling strings in the NHL and in The Olympic committee?

How it would be impossible to take few weeks break in a middle of season to actually check how it goes if top NHL players are arranged by their nationality, competing each others using some simple two divisions of 4 + playoffs format?

How NHL and IOC can be so f*.....* shortsighted?

I mean: EVERY SEASON.

Because there's virtually no money in it for the NHL - they risk their assets' health and shut down their own operations for weeks, for negligible actual growth of revenue for the NHL. And the entities that would have to sweeten the pot to make it palatable to NHL owners refuse to, because they stubbornly hold that their brand is so valuable that they can call all the shots and expect other entities to eat losses just to be associated with their brand (and historically that's worked).
