Hey everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed there new year and didn't end up too sick. But anyway with so much talk about blashill sucking(especially at line combos) I figure how would you do it assuming everyone is healthy.

Mantha-Z -Larkin
Vanek-Nielson-Aby

I totally agree.

However, I believe Blashill is giving Tatar the opportunity because it's a contract year for him and promised more ice time that last season.

-Keep Tatar-Zetterberg-Mantha together
-Let Larkin keep playing center

I don't care what you do with the rest of the lineup this season.

Mantha-Z-Tatar
Vanek-Nielsen-Nyquist
Helm-Larkin-Abby (meh)
AA-Glendening-Sheahan/Ott/Miller/Jurco

For the top 2 lines keep them at what they are now Idk if that's the set winger sides. AA will probably be the one who's sent down though, I wouldn't even be mad (from a Holland viewpoint, not a for the future one) he hasn't played himself into the lineup.

Keep Mantha and Z together
Keep Nielsen and Vanek together
Have Larkin center the third line.
Mix and match the rest

winner winner chicken dinner. The only thing I'd consider is moving Tatar off Z's line when we're healthy. I'd like to see someone on Larkin's wing who can bury the puck on occasion, but beggars can't be choosers with this group.

I would try to stack 2 lines as much as possible. And i don't see any reason whatsoever to break up the first line, they're consistently killing it game after game and tatar is finally producing 6 points in the last 6 games.

Tatar-Z-Mantha
Larkin-Nils holgersson-Nyquist
AA-Helm-Vanek (mostly because Helm and Vanek were killing it)
Abby-Glenny-Shenny

This is ofcourse when everyone get healthy, no clue though if this works cap wise. Waive Miller maybe?

Thanks for the input gentleman and females if their are any. What about the defense though? I don't like sitting sproul at all. I don't really know how Jensen jumped him in the lineup

Mantha-Z-Tatar
Nyquist-Nielsen-Vanek
Sheahan-Larkin-AA
Miller-Glendening-Jurco

I'd be fine with moving some things around. For example switching Tatar with AA or another winger.
My primary axioms are Larkin at center, Mantha with Z, and Glendening on the fourth line no matter what.

When we're healthy again:
Mantha-Z-Tatar
Nyquist-Nielsen-Vanek
Abdelkader-Larkin-AA
Sheahan/Jurco-Helm-Glendening.

For D:
DK-Green
Kronwall-Sproul

When we're healthy I don't see Sproul in

Something along the lines of:

65-25
55-61
52-53

Assuming everyone is healthy? Also, i'm trying to balance development and being competitive best I can. For example, I think from a winning perspective Larkin in the top 6 on the wing is much better than him at 3rd line center but he NEEDS to play center if he's ever going to learn.

Mantha - Z - Nyquist
AA - Nielsen - Tatar
Abdelkader - Larkin - Vanek
Sheahan - Helm - Ott

Miller and Glendening can both sit on the bench. Both useless players.

I could really get behind this.

Edit:
Glenny will never sit though. I guess I'd be fine with him over Ott.

Yeah I just want to see players being benched when they don't produce. No reason to not rotate the bottom guys in and out. I feel like there is just no competition being brought into the locker room AND in the front office

Mantha - Larkin - Tatar

Come on. Give Larkin a real opportunity. Give him the #1C position and let him try to earn it.

Zetterberg - Nielsen - Abdelkader

Give them tough matchups.

Vanek- Helm - Nyquist

This line should be able to feast on lesser matchups.

Athanasiou- Glendening - Bertuzzi/Svechnikov

Need to try and find some element of skill from the 4th line, need them to chip in a goal here and there.

Extras: Sheahan, Ott

Waived/traded: Jurco, Miller

Defense

Dekeyser - Green

Most minutes, we have no better options.

Ericsson - Ouellet

Tough matchups, they've been solid.

Kronwall - Sproul

Lesser minutes, easier matchups.

Extra: Marchenko

Goalies

#1 Mrazek

Play him through his struggles.

#2 Howard

Backup role. Let him shine and don't overplay him.

Larkin should either be on a wing in the top 6 or #3C to learn...he would get destroyed at #1C, that whole line would be fast, but defensively inept & hemmed in their own zone.

Larkin-Z-Mantha
Vanek-Nielsen-Nyquist
Tatar-Helm---Abby/AA/Sheahan
AA/Jurco--Glen--Abby/Sheahan

or switch Larkin & Tatar depending on home/road/matchups.

waive Miller

Jurco-Zetterberg-Mantha
Tatar-Nielsen-Larkin
Vanek-Helm-Nyquist
AA-Sheahan/Glendening-Abby

I think giving Jurco good minutes with good teammates will do wonders for him. Having Z and Mantha on his line, he doesn't have to worry about playing big. Just use his skill and have at it!!!

With a team flirting with being in the bottom 5 of the league I'm not sure I'm so concerned about Larkin being "destroyed". Those 3 are also strong possession drivers so they could be alright even if they wouldn't be great in the d-zone.

Let Riley warm the pressbox. He sucks.

DDK-Green
Kronwall-Sproul
Big Rig-Marchenko
Smith/Ouellett/Jensen/Whoever

In conclusion, we should find a way to package Smith along with one of Helm or Sheahan in a trade for picks, prospects, or a better D-man if we get lucky. We can probably trade one of the goalies at this point too.
