How would a redraft of the 2014 NHL entry draft look now?

ah so it's "he don't skate fast" again, got it

Pretty sure that's not what he said.
He needs to deflect from any criticism of Reinhart.

It's more the combo of skating and hands that Drouin possesses that allows him to be a much more pro-active player. But considering you think Reinhart is still the best player from the 2014 draft, trying to get you to find a balanced point of view on him is not worth my time.

Reinhart simply doesn't have the speed, edgework or strength on the puck to utilize his IQ to the extent you think he has it.

I actually said it was a combo of multiple things. If you aren't an high-end skater at the NHL level in regards to either edgework or speed to be a strong playmaker you need to be extremely strong on the puck (see Getzlaf, Thornton, Draisaitl). Reinhart simply doesn't have a way to buy time to utilize his vision to its fullest extent. Drouin on the other hand has elite skating combined with great hands (you seem to ignore this part), that allows him to buy time for passing lanes to open up. Long-term, he's is probably the better player because of this.

Smaller snipers like Pavelski can succeed with sub-par skating because they find the soft spots in the D for their teams playmakers to find them in them. That rarely works for playmakers who tend to need time on the puck.

The run of Bennett, MDC, Virtanen, Fluery looks pretty bad now. But Winnipeg and Leafs are laughing how that played out

I think people are jumping the gun with writing off Bennett already. He had a good rookie season (18 goals), but slumped as a sophomore while adjusting to playing center full time.

This was only his second year in the league. He hasn't even turned 21 years old yet. And people are already making it sound like he's in bust territory with guys who haven't even made the NHL yet, or who have had very, very little success at the NHL level?

Clock is ticking. Alot of what is said about Bennett was said about yak, eerily similar. Good rookie season.. 17/18 goals... Shown flashes...adjusting to new lines... Still showing flashes... Only 21 needs time...

The thing with Bennett like it was with yak is that it's a hockey IQ limitation and ability to adjust to pro hockey. Another good comparison is to Nino. Yes hell figure it out somewhat but the question is upside. Nino is just now emerging as a good depth player 7 years later

We must have a different definition of depth player. Nino put up 57 points last year, and is quite solid defensively. That's a top line winger. And a fairly good one at that.

Nino's 57 points = 11th production for RWs, 25th among ALL wingers. Seeing that there were 30 teams, his production indeed IS "top line winger". :handclap:

"Depth player"...
