we do? show me where
LOL... you'll not get one quote from the poster. It's a classic HF argument

Step 1
Make up a bullshit argument no one said

Bouchard is better than Makar and will win the Norris easily

Step 2
Repeat it ad nauseum till you actually believe someone said it

Step 3
Argue it vehemently as though you are arguing with someone

'OiLEr fAnS ThInK bOuCh iS ThE bEsT D In tHe nHl!'

Nurse is given way too much ice time, and that in the playoffs will unfortunately cost you games when he's logging 26+ minutes a night.

He's a defenseman who would excel with ice time under 15 minutes a game and paired with a strong D partner. Cody Ceci isn't that guy. Like it's been said already, he does not process the game fast enough in real time.

If the oilers have a chance to move him, even if they have to retain part of his contract I would get rid of him asap. I'm pretty sure the oilers have a winning record without him in the lineup.
Curious if you know how many minutes Nurse is playing a game this season?

Why'd anyone demand a NMC in Edmonton? And why do they give NMC's and NTC's like candy? They should be reserved to a handful of superstars that you're sure are going to live up to the huge contract.

1) NMC prevents you from being waived/sent to the minors. And prevents you from being traded to a possibly worse destination/situation

2) Because it's part of the negotation of signing the contract, the stablity of knowing you and your family and be moved. It can be as important as the dollar figures

The only thing that keeps me from picketing the Oilers office about his terrible contract is by pretending Ekholm and Nurse’s salaries/cap hits are reversed.

It's pretty obvious when comparing him to other D Mens contracts around the league that he is overpaid. When he plays a simple game he isn't bad. When he tries to do to much .. well as you can see from the video. It's not his thing.

Forgot Points are everything
Ranks highly in advanced stats too and is +31.

So since points aren't acceptable, which stats DO you find acceptable?

I mean I'm not saying he's a bad D man. This argument started when posters said 'he's on Makar, Josi, Hedman, McaVoy level"

Bouchard is an offensive specialist with poor defensive IQ regarding turnovers.

Who said he's on Makar's level overall?

He's pretty similar to the others unless you believe that PP performance is worth nothing.

By all the talk, you'd expect his EV defense to be at 0% or 1% instead of 65%.

Turnovers are pretty normal for creative offensive players. I agree he could minimize them a bit more but he's just barely above other offensive defensemen in the league (excluding the obvious norris candidates).

For the same reason, no. He's not on the level of the others either. He's improved a lot and make better judgement but that and his turnover rate is still worse than the names mentioned.

The Oilers are sitting at 9th in the NHL in goals against per game (2.86 goals against/game). That’s a lower figure than Dallas, Las Vegas, and Colorado. They aren’t doing it with a Vezina calibre goaltender, and they also have gotten to that point after a disastrous first two months that saw them sink to 30th place. So trolls can go on and on about how terrible Bouchard is defensively and how they wouldn’t take Nurse at 50% retention but where it counts, on the scoreboard, they get the job done more often than not.

it was for Erik Karlsson winning the Norris last year...lots of flaws in his game
Who cares about the Norris. Erik karlsson isn't that good, either is Bouchard. I agree with you that the Norris is stupid

Bouchard is not a top 10 defence man in this league. That is my point
