Would've grabbed Tolvanen off waivers to fill in for the missing wingers. Maybe take a flyer on some younger NHL players that need a change of scenery for a mid/late pick (like Hoglander mentioned earlier here) while we wait for guys to heal. Griffins are going to struggle even more if we keep calling everyone up.
You couldn’t get Tolvanen off waivers. Wings never had a chance to do so.

What is the point of trading Bertuzzi for a 4th liner?
It's for the 1st rdp Blais just moves for a open spot/cap. Idk, you can replace him with another name, he's just moveable and a UFA at the end of the year.

There seems to be a mild amount of panic as Detroit slides out of the playoff picture but did we really think that they'd be securely in the playoff picture half way through December? I think the team is probably in around the right spot for where they're at in terms of young players developing and how good they are on paper.

Keep in mind this is year one of a new coach and we turned over a huge chunk of the roster in the offseason. There are a lot of growing pains that come with that much change, even if it is clearly upgrading certain positions.

I think Steve already did the aggressive tinkering for the year back in the summer. Ride it out and see what the team is made of when injuries pile up and the wins get fewer and further between. This isn't a contender desperate to get in and go on a run, this is a team on the rise, still coming into it's own. There's no pressure to win this year.

1. Break Vrana out of rehab.

2. Get Luca Brasi to restructure Copp's contract (or get him to produce)

3. Convince Larkin to play with a broken hand since he's still miles better than our other centers.

4. Fire Tangay (I don't want any Avalanche people on this team)

5. Move Bergreen up to a higher line.

Tolvanen and Höglander, lol. It's like thinking two Filip Zadinas would be the answer.

He went to Seattle, they're higher in the standings than us which is what defines waiver order.

If you read my post I didn't say they were the answer to anything. I said because we have so many injuries, I'd take a chance on some guys that could benefit from a change of scenery rather than emptying out the farm team.

Reality is, we were thin even without injuries, we really were. With injuries we are as thin a team as there is in the league. Bertuzzi being out for our team is a huge hole, Larkin is a Grand Canyon hole if he is out long term, and then we have Vrana out as well. Add Maatta to the mix and he alone makes the rest of our D hurt that much more, as soon as we went out we looked worse as a team, because we finally had someone to play Hronek with. If Hronek is out now, then I expect this season is going to go way off the rails very quickly.

I fully expect Hronek out a month. Larkin... who knows. They said he was seeing a specialist. Might be one of those do you let it heal crooked or do you get surgery to align it type deals, which would impact return timeline. Hope it isn't a "just chop it off" situation that Sedin took to get back in the lineup quicker.

Yeah, I expect Hronek is out at least 2-3 weeks with a concussion, seeing as he didn't return. The fact that Larkin is seeing a specialist to me is a bad thing to hear, as that means he has an injury that a specialist needs to see.

If Ed isn't up our blueline is a disaster as Mo would be the only guy out there that can comfortably move the puck up ice either via pass or skating it.

Lalonde said Hronek wanted to come back last night but the doctors held him out. He might be fine.

I don't want Ed to come up if Hronek is out. Mo is struggling this year and Simon has never played, if Hronek is out, that means Seider, Chiarot and partially Walman are our only capable defenders. Oesterle is going to get exposed and already is, when he needs to play any more minutes and Lindstrom has played quite poorly this season. That is bad for highly regarded prospect when the blueline is super thin. People would expect him to be way too good way too soon and that is how you destroy a young kids confidence.

Hopefully, as it will be bad for us if he is also out.

That's beyond dumb. This MFer better not be lying about symptoms in the coming days because he has this want/need to be out there. If he is legitimately fine, great. But I'd still keep him out a week whether he wants to or not.

Or, that's how you build up a young kid's confidence if he thrives. Young players that are used to playing a lot often times do much better in situations where they have to play a lot rather than being sheltered.

Jakub Kindl was dogshit on our 3rd pairing. But if there were injuries and he had to play 20+ in all situations he was legitimately good.

Agreed. His long-term health is more important, both for him, and for the team, than the short-term gains by him playing a couple of meaningless games right now.
