How many of these records does Ovechkin break by the time he retires?

Which records?

But the thread titles asks which records will broken. Regardless of how indicative it is for comparing different generations, or as much as someone might want it to be, it’s simply not a record.

You can say it's not an official NHL record, but that doesn't make it not a record of some sort.

Are we really arguing about what is and isn't a record? Nobody bats an eye when there's a thread about McDavid breaking the "record" for most team goals to start a season with one player recording a point on each goal but we can't consider adjusted goals a record? It's a thread on a discussion board, people. Nobody is claiming adjusted goals is a go to stat for HoF voters or something.

Yeah exactly, it's just something interesting at the end of the day. Nothing more, nothing less :)

I've been thinking about the total goals. If he scores 45-50 this year he should end up around 655 after the season. I think he has several 40+ goal seasons after this one.

He then would need 240 to break the record. He would need to play to about 41-42 but it can be done. His shot on the PP isn't going away any time soon. I could see him avg 40 for the next 4 years. At 37 he would be about 100 away. A couple 30 goal seasons to wind down his 30s. He's right there on the doorstep.

Of course this all factors in good health, aging well, and no lengthy lockouts. Just showing an example of how it could be possible.
