Its all about the player's age. That;s the number factor in judging a player, according to Hak.

Truly depends on how his first couple of shifts go. If he's making smart plays, creating some chances, or even (god forbid) scores a goal, he'll end with 3:23 TOI.

It makes no sense to bring him up to see if he can play in the NHL and not give him enough PT to make an evaluation.
It's not Varone v Lindblom, it's Varone as depth v Varone as AHL stalwart.
If Varone is acceptable NHL depth, players like Weal become expendable in trades.
