Will get 7 more for 37...don't forget Vanek here now, he will take some PP time away from patches.

28 goals in 43 games since Nov 19th.

18 more games to go.
Give us 39 goals.
40 is within reach.

Let's see how it goes next game.

If they put Vanek with Plek then opponents needs to split their defense.
If they put Vanek with DD and Pacio more goals to that line...

Man it's just surreal opening the stats page for goals and seeing him #5. I don't think habs had one of those since they started posting stats on the Internet.

Now I just hope he's not injured; he came back yesterday, but so did Galchenyuk following his hand fracture, so you never know. He's Wolverine, though so I'm not "too" worried.

Pacioretty could end up with a Crosby-prorated 40 goal season (ie. taking a 82 game stretch over 2 seasons and putting it together). 12 goals in next 39 games he plays is realistic.

I'd like to give credit to DD in this thread. Some of Pacioretty's goals were scored with a really, really great assist from DD. Last night's goal was a great example for me. Great pass by DD.

We shat on him at the beginning of the year (and with very good reasons). But after his 23 games with only 1 assist, he has 36 points (including 25 assists) in 38 games. Way to recover from a cold, oh so cold streak...

uh so who was our last 40+ goals scorer?

Kovalev had 35 a couple years ago... Pacioretty 33 also... Turgeon's best with us were 38

edit: Damphousse had 40 in 1994, am i missing anyone?

We really wouldn't have believed that at some point of the season.

Pacioretty's streak is probably the best streak the habs have had since Richer tore it down the stretch in the year he put up 50. I think he might even be hotter than Kovalev in 2009 when he was killing it at the end of the season. Weird to think in a full season at this pace he'd be at 45 for the year. Probably flirt with 50 had he not had a slow start.

It makes me wonder about next year. If we re-sign Vanek, could he get close to 50?

Without an injury?

Definitely. There is nothing fluky about Max's scoring.

Timmins is quite amazing to have picked Max, McDonaugh and Subban with the Habs 1st 3 picks of 2007.

Its notable that Wayne Simmonds went at 61 and Jamie Benn at 129 in that one.

It seems that it takes a good 7 years to get a truly good read on how successful a draft year was.
