So far he has 29 in 53 games which is 0.55 per game. In a full season that would be good for 45 goals, but with the time he missed he'll hit 40 if he keeps that pace for the rest of the year.

He's also tied for 5th overall in the league for goals with less GP than everyone he's tied with. He's having an elite year and I can't believe anyone was wanting to trade him earlier this year!

FWIW, here are the top 5 players for Goals Per Game:

1. Ovechkin (0.75)
2. Steen (0.58)
3. Neal (0.56)
4. Pacioretty (0.55)
5. Kessel (0.53)

Too nad he missed those games. Otherwise. I don't see why he couldn't hit 40.

As for your wondering why board members want to trade Pacioretty, they have the absurd notion that he's a floater, an opportunist, that he's not physical enough to be considered a power forward. May I remind them that he's at least twice as physical as Lafleur or Shutt ever were.

He'll score 40 goals and have 11 assists. Love the guy, but feel bad for Gallagher as he never gets passed to. And for those of you asking, Pacioretty already has 11 assists.

The craziest thing is not the fact that he scored his goals in 53 games, but the fact that in 3 of those games he got injured, so he didn't finish the games, essentially giving him 29 goals in 50 games. When was the last time the Habs had such a prolific goal-scorer?

I'll go out on a limb and predict 95 goals. :sarcasm:

hard to say with Max, he is a streaky player. He could go cold for the next 10 games then go on a tear to end of season and reach 40.

He also started off really slow with 2 goals in 12 games. Been red-hot ever since with 27 in his last 41.

It would be sweet if he could eclipse 40, but I'm dreading a late season slump among the whole team like last season, and I'd rather not jinx it. I'll say 36 to finish up the season.

He'll score 36.

Right now he's 5th in the league in goals per game amongst players with a reasonable amount of goals scored (not 2-3), which is crazy. How much credit should Desharnais get for this?

Only one way to know: check for how many of his goals DD has the primary assist. The primary assist is just that, primary credit.

It scares me a bit how the guy has a legit chance at scoring 40 goals while missing 9 games...with a bit less coasting he must have the ability to score near or at 50 goals in a few years time.

On Oct 15th, he was injured and scored only one pass in the 7 games after coming back from injury.

Remove those games, he has 29G-11A in 45 games (pace of 52 goals).
Add 20 games at the same pace and you get 41 goals.

More than 35: 38-42 goals would be in line.
Now defense will improve as we go toward the end of the season.

He would score 50 with Tavares, Crosby, Backstrom or Thornton.
