probably a tad premature

maybe make this thread after they win their first

win one, then we start speculating on "how many"

Adding Tavares certainly gives them elite offense they are definitely contenders

7 Cups and possibly a World Series because Tavares has generational hand-eye coordination and he could take October off from hockey one year to help the Jays win.
the man would get the key to the city and free drinks in any Toronto bar he entered

Hard to say.

It took Crosby and malkin a decade to get passed one cup and theyre a better one two punch than AM and JT. Tampa Bay doesnt have a cup yet with the current team and theyve been more stacked than Toronto is for the last little while.

Start with one then worry about how many I would say

I'd be more comfortable with Rob Ford than John Tavares making executive decisions.

It wasn't my intention to steer this thread off course or in a political direction. My (hyperbolic) comment was purely to demonstrate how much adulation Tavares would receive for bringing a Cup to our championship-starved city.

And all I'm saying is that I don't think he'd know what to do with it.

ftr I'd bet the Leafs win 1 cup in the next decade, but I don't think it'll happen for a little while.

Fair enough. I certainly don't seriously advocate for John Tavares to ever be our mayor, regardless of whether he is able to one day help bring a Cup to the city of Toronto.
