Hayes is the type of player you walk away from and let someone else sign to a massive deal. The Rangers did the right thing here.

I think he's better than Strome, but I don't think he'd be doing better in that role than Strome is.

This is a really, really important aspect of roster building that is going to play a role in how this team shapes up.

Sometimes the "better" player doesn't inherently "do better" in the roles we have available.
