Looked at my PC specs... safe to say I won't be playing anything on it unless I drop in at least 3-4 upgrades. The only systems I play anything modern on now are PS3 and PC, and I still can't convince myself its worth the $500+ to upgrade.

Remember, I spent $500 just on a graphics card . If you give me your budget, I'm sure I can make a system that can run PC games (like Borderlands 2 or whatnot) just fine.

I've got a house down payment in the bank more or less - It's not so much the budget, it's the idea that I might play 4-5 games on it by the time the parts will be obsolete again.

Since my last PC upgrade, I might have logged decent time in about 3-4 games. Some of them were on my laptop with I3 integrated graphics too.

It was ridiculous they were faster invincible to poke checks and every top corner shot was a goal.... They flew pass me and I have 90 speed 90 accell 87 endurance 83 strength 90 poke check...

Don't forget the did the same speed while skating backwards as well.

After we mentioned it, I started looking into PCs. I come to about $550-600 to start off with a setup that runs 95% of games on max settings for 1080p and flexibility for some upgrades, and should last 3-5 years before it becomes intolerable. Pretty tempting actually.
