Wings filing onto ice for practice. Franzen was skating a little bit but left as soon as rest of team got on.

Looks like Helm will stick around for the whole practice. Working on the PK. Jurco left midway through practice.

Helm said he's not ready to return tomorrow. Will skate in the morning in Philly. Didn't rule out Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Babcock said Jurco, who didn't make it through whole practice, isn't playing tomorrow. Hadn't decided if Cleary or Weiss will replace him.

Ericsson played only two shifts in third period Thursday, He wasn't injured. Just wasn't playing well.

These boards are toxic during slumps. It's like no other team in the league has down periods during an 82 game season.

Right, but people seem to forget that every Cup winning team has slumps. Of course we need to play better. Having a slump doesn't mean we're first round fodder though.

See my post previously:

The team has always had issues at even strength this season. The problem is that issue is being magnified in recent games which causes a growing concern with the fans.

Check other losses this season and you will see similar concerns. The team relies too much on the powerplay to provide offense.

Cleary over Weiss potentially?

Give Weiss a shot with Dats and Tatar. Glendening provides nothing up there and is a great on the 4th line.

But instead of we'll get more of Top line Glendening and have to watch Cleary, Joker and Miller fall over themselves on the 4th line.

Babcock doesn't realize apparently that moving Glendenning from the fourth line makes our fourth line terrible. They were responsible for two goals last night, correct?

Sure glad Holland didn't waste a 1st rounder along with that 2nd and 3rd he burnt up.

So far I like Zidliky. *If* he signs with Detroit, I will consider it a 3rd well spent. Not a fan of wasting a 2nd on Cole, though.

Cole is playing better than Legwand or Weiss have.

As in, I like the addition of Cole.

Weiss should be back in the lineup. And in the top 9 IMO.

I'm not sure I agree. Legwand helped this team make the playoffs. Cole gets to play with Zetterberg... a luxury Legwand never had.

I agree, Weiss should be in the top 6. Let him earn that paycheck. You can see he is demoralized and unhappy. If he was Ian White, he'd already probably spouted off to the media. Glad he isn't like Ian White.

The Wings also gave up quite a bit more for Legwand.

The other guy saved 41 of 42. So I'd say they did pretty good and the other guy played much better.

The Howard up and down roller coaster continues.

So you didn't watch the game, nor have any commentary regarding how the team played?

The team in front of Howard.

Howard wasn't really at fault for any of those goals. Guys being let to the front of the net and being that open are a problem that is much bigger.

Of course I watched the game. I watched 1 goalie make 41 saves and 1 make 23. Did the defense play good? No

Did Columbus defense play good? No

Did Bob outplay Howard? 100000% yes!

It's about time the excuses stop. Here Howard's stat since coming back:

If you watched the game you'd realize Bobrovsky didn't have many tough saves to make. Howard certainly had the tougher chances.

Come on!!!! Give Bob credit. He stood on his head and stole that game.

The problem is your focus is solely on Howard. Every game. Almost every post. You fail to discuss the team as a whole (including Howard) which is why you are constantly called out for lack of perspective and understanding of context.

If you look at that game, you see a Detroit team that was ineffective offensively, made poor decisions defensively, and lost as a cohesive unit. Unfortunately you are once again shifting the focus towards one player and deflecting from the bigger issue at hand.

Bobrovsky didn't have to do much all game. He didn't steal anything.

Let's say Howard stops that third goal and posts a .923 save percentage (assuming everything stays the same). You notice that despite his solid statistic the team still loses because they could only score a single goal?

In order for the Wings to earn a point Howard was required to post a .961 save percentage in that game. Any team that relies on a .960+ percentage out of their goaltender on a regular basis is not going to win many games.

And knew if I took the time to post Howard's roller coaster stats they'd be ignored.
