Alright. With the last pick of the draft :bolts are happy to select, from Djurgården, Sweden, smooth-skating 6'2 centre Lukas Vejdemo!

Lukas_Vejdemo.jpg

--- Tampas picks (last 4 was mine):

#30 RD Nicolas Meloche
#44 C/RW Gabriel Gagne
#64 LW Ryan Gropp
#117 LW/RW Radovan Bondra
#119 C Kevin Stenlund
#147 C Anthony Richard
#153 C/LW Brad Morrison
#178 LD Ziyat Paygin
#209 RW/LW Maxim Lazarev
#211 C Lukas Vejdemo

Real solid draft IMO. Nice combination of size and skill. Only two d-men and no goalies taken though. Didn't like the remaining d-men too much so went for the guys I thought had the most value.

So, just wanted to thank everybody involved in this draft. First real mock draft I've done and gotta say it was a lot of fun :)

Here are some guys that didn't get drafted but I quite like.

RW Chris Wilkie. 35 goals, 55 points in 59 games with Tri-City Storm in the USHL.

F Troy Terry. Had a productive season in the USNTDP and is one of the youngest players in the draft.

C Tanner Laczynski. 46 points in 57 games with the Chicago Steel in his first USHL season. Really like this kid and thought about taking him multiple times.

Really smart, cerebral forward from the Mission who drove a gifted offense last season. Gifted passer who is deceptively elusive, a refined scorer as well and one of the key recruits indicating an even brighter future for the Buckeyes.

C Jake Pappalardo. Highschool kid. Had a solid season playing for Proctor Academy.

Then there's plenty more forwards like Chase Pearson, Vyacheslav Leshchenko, Alexandre Fortin, Adam Gaudette, Bob Carpenter and Dylan Malmquist that probably has a good chance of being drafted.

Among the d-men there's not that much to choose from. I like Carl Neill from Sherbrooke Phoenix. Was a bit of a standout for me when watching his team to get a look on J. Roy. His 2nd year as a draft-eligible but he really improved this year. Then there's Tate Olson from Prince George Cougars, Jacob Olson and Jack McNeely from highschools in Minnesota, USNTDP d-man Steven Ruggiero as well as Tri-City Storms Tory Dello.

For the goalies I'm surprised no one took Michael McNiven from Owen Sound Attack (played in the Top Prospects Game), big swedish goaltender Adam Werner or NAHL standout Matt Jurusik. There's a couple of other decent ones in Rylan Parenteau from Prince Albert or double overagers Jordan Papirny and Lucas Peressini.

Overall, just a ton of guys still available that I didn't think would make it, but that's the draft for you. Curious how all this plays out in Florida!

Considering how many mock drafts crash and burn in the main thread, I think it's a big accomplishment that we were able to get all seven rounds in prior to the actual draft.

Having taken part, it'll make the actual draft all the more exciting to see how the actual teams draft compared to how they did here.

This has been the smoothest mock draft i've been a part of and thats largely because of the group we have. Major props to everyone who participated.

I'll probably do a review of my draft later tonight. I did feel slightly constrained being the Oilers, trying to fill organizational weakness played more of a factor in my drafting than I expected. It was fun, but next time I'll be leaving the Oilers alone.

This was fun, makes the later rounds of the real draft more interesting knowing about prospects in that range. Thanks to everyone who was a part of this as well.

It will be fun to look back in 3-5 years and see where your picks are at.

Since the big scouting agencies megalists and black books recently came out and I just got my hand on a couple of them I thought it would be fun to compare my Mock Draft with the CBJ to where these guys had them ranked. Seeing as how I respect Future Considerations the most out of the three I got my hands on (others where HockeyProspect and ISS) that's the one I chose to compare my draft with. Here's the results:

At #8 I selected Mikko Rantanen - FC's final rankings have Rantanen ranked #8.
At #34 I selected Vince Dunn - FC's final rankings have Dunn ranked #34.

At #38 I selected Filip Chlapik - FC's final rankings have Chlapik ranked #35.
At #59 I selected Christian Fischer - FC's final rankings have Fischer ranked #53.
At #68 I selected Parker Wotherspoon - FC's final rankings have Wotherspoon ranked #52.
At #69 I selected Jesper Lindgren - FC's final rankings have Lindgren ranked #77.
At #129 I selected Petter Hansson - FC's final rankings does not have Hansson ranked.
At #141 I selected Joel Daccord - FC's final rankings does not have Daccord ranked.
At #159 I selected Christian Jaros - FC's final rankings have Jaros ranked #159.
At #185 I selected Kirill Kaprizov - FC's final rankings have Kaprizov ranked #55.
At #189 I selected Robby Jackson - FC's final rankings have Jackson ranked #181.

Pretty pleased with myself upon seeing these results. Many players I picked in the exact same spot that FC had them ranked and a couple, according to this list, were steals. Not terribly surprised Daccord and Hansson weren't ranked. After all there are only so many players you can fit onto a 211 player list but personally I'd pretty easily take these guys over some 6'3 low-scoring highschool d-man or 5'8 BCHL player :)

Both Novak and Merkley fell hard, but Kolesar was taken higher then I took him. Overall I still feel like I did better then the actual Bruins.

#8 Mikko Rantanen - Went 10th
#34 Vince Dunn - Went 56th
#38 Filip Chlapik - Went 48th
#59 Christian Fischer - Went 32nd
#68 Parker Wotherspoon - Went 112th

#141 Joel Daccord - Went 199th
#159 Christian Jaros - Went 139th
#185 Kirill Kaprizov - Went 135th
#189 Robby Jackson - Undrafted

I think I did pretty well all things considered. Was happy Hansson and Daccord did in fact get drafted.

And as I mentioned in the other thread, Ottawa took 3 of my guys in Chlapik, Daccord and Jaros while Isles took Wotherspoon and Hansson. Pretty funny! CBJ didn't take a single one of my guys though, woops.

The back end of the real draft didn't get me much, was doing great up till pick 89 with 6 of 10 picks hit, then only 1 in the lass 122 picks, and a major drop according to my list. It was funny seeing how I did though

:nashville DRAFT SUMMARY

45th (56) - Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson, C, 6'1, 190lb, Omaha Lancers, USHL
99th (86) - Austin Wagner, LW, 6'1, 181lb, Regina Pats, WHL
128th (100) - David Kase, RW, 5'11, 170lb, Chomutov, Czech Extraliga
UND (116) - Ryan Larkin, G, 6'0, 194lb, Cedar Rapids Roughriders, USHL
UND (146) - Pius Suter, C, 5'11, 170lb, Guelph Storm, OHL
207th (176) - Jeremiah Addison, LW, 6'0, 183lb, Ottawa 67s, OHL
UND (206) - Cameron Lizotte, LD, 6'2, 194lb, Peterborough Petes, OHL

I'm still happy with my draft.

Suter was an OA, but scored 42 goals as a guy who is considered a top notch defensive forward.

Lizotte is a huge stay-at-home type and a much better pick than a guy like Bruce in the 7th.

And Larkin, like all goalies, is essentially a guy with decent numbers pre-draft and a shot in the dark long-term.

Looking at the Draft+1 seasons, pretty happy with the value out of the C. White, N. Roy, C. Hobbs, and J. Gabrielle selections. And that McDavid dude as well.

---

Signup for the 2016 Mock Entry Draft will start next weekend sometime after the Draft Lottery. I'll make a new Signup thread.

Last year ran very smoothly so I don't imagine I'll change much. But if you have any suggestions I'd like to hear them.

We're going to do all 7 rounds. I imagine there will be some activity drop off, but I ask if you join you intend to be around for atleast 4 rounds. Previous GMs that went 7 rounds deep with me last year will get priority if we get many participants.

No trades. Focus is on the prospects vying to get selected in the entry draft.
