Savoie and Rodrigue were head and shoulders above the other prospects in the last poll, so I went ahead and named Rodrigue our 13th best prospect. I'm currently stuck between Maksimov, Skinner, and Kemp.

Just realized Marody is still there. It’s easily him. He struggled with injuries last year, but he’s still only one season removed from his above PPG rookie AHL season

Honestly I feel like it's a complete crapshoot after the top10 anyway. No one knows if any of these guys (and if so who) will make it.

Don't really know how Lagesson lost out to Konovalov either.

I think Krill, Marody, maybe one or two more... all of those guys and the guys from #10 and on are basically the same level. Then the rest really don't matter.

We have a top 9. A bunch of guys all the same around the 10 spot, then the rest are long shots.

Lagesson lost to Kono because its a crapshoot after 4 not 10.

Konovalov might be our NHL backup as early as this time next year.(Oct 2021) .. Or he could be a career backup in KHL. Lagesson has his last shot i feel with Klefbom out. He likely wont be a top7 Dman afterwards for Oil.

Klefbom, Jones,Samourkov,Broberg ...

Konovalov is a 22 year old 5'11 goalie who's coming off a bad year. I'm not sure why people are excited about him. Lagesson is only 2 years older and has shown that he could at least be a #7D with upside to be a regular bottom-pairing guy.

And I'd say the crapshoot starts after the top8, except with Lagesson occupying that spot instead of Konovalov.

Russian goalies are hot right now. The country is a factory of quality goalies right now. Konovolov looks promising.

He can sing but he cant skate.

He’s not a speed demon, no. But he’s still got a lot of talent. Maksimov just had 13 points in his rookie AHL season. Marody had 64 in his rookie AHL season the year prior. There’s a large gap between those players right now. This is like when I kept arguing for Pitlick back in 2013-2015. People’s shiny new toy syndrome makes them ignore any prospect who’s more than like 3 years outside of their draft.

Maksimov's skating and shot is more of what we need. He's more of specialist but an area of the game we need. He can move up and down the line up whereas Marody is kind of a bottom 6 player

I prefer Philip Kemp out of our NCAA defensemen.

He's the smarter player and is better offensively. (His D+3 numbers were better than Marino in his D+4 year)

I’m a fan of Kemp as well. He’s in my next pick or two, I have him above Kesselring right now as well. Not a knock on Kesselring I just like Kemp slightly more.

He plays a solid, rugged shut down role and he has average skating. He’s got some size to him, good positioning.

Offensive upside is limited but he has excellent defensive IQ.

Former captain at the USNTDP and current captain at Yale. So smart kid with some leadership qualities. I’ll take that bet that he can carve a role as a bottom pairing D man someday. Character and leadership qualities do matter in a room, it’s not the most important or only thing, but it’s a damn important thing to have high character people on your roster.

We better not give up on Kemp, he’s a legitimate defensive defenceman that we will need to pair with our more offensive minded D (Bear, Bouchard, Broberg) down the road.

I like Rasanen too....he is the Tyler Vesel of our current group.

And random note.....apparently Vesel now plays in the Allsvenskan alongside Lord Grundstrom.

Agree he’s got talent but nowhere near the NHL wheels he needs. AHL lifer.

He definitely is what we need, and I like Maksimov, but the need for him doesn’t make him a better prospect than Marody.

People are sleeping on Marody for no reason other than because he got injured last year. He’s only a year older than Benson and outperformed him in their rookie pro seasons. Benson went 5 and Marody might not even go top 15?

Patrick Maroon was maybe the worst skater I’ve ever seen at the NHL level when he first got called up. Skating is important, but it’s not that black and white
