Former WJC defector/participant for Team Canada Brandon Kozun and Alexei Ponikarovsky are headed back to Washington in exchange for the aforementioned Langenbrunner.

Ponikarovsky immediately hits the block along with defenders Roman Hamrlik, Jaroslav Spacek, and Jason Arnott. Arnott in particular being a pretty big prize considering he is scoring over a point per game this season.

Hopefully more of this by Kozun and less trouble scoring in the AHL. A risk worth taking in my estimation.

That's a pretty impressive package, boys. About the price Howson needs to be looking for in return for Nash. Well done, both. This should hopefully start your rebuild well, Martin. I'm already on the record as beliving that Rundblad will never reach expectations, but Adam seems to be well on the way, and Hornqvist at age 25 is already a legit top 6 scoring winger with the potential for greater upside. And no doubt there will be a fine Swedish player to take late in the first round this year - Aberg we can assume will be gone, but perhaps Lundberg... ;)

...a potential top pairing d-man (but not a future perennial Norris hopeful like Doughty) in Ellis

NHL Preds GM David Poile was on Fan590 with Bob McCown this week, said he loves Ellis and what he brings to the table, but was wondering if he was miscast as a blueliner because of his difficulties containing big forwards on the forecheck, and thought he might do well by a transition to forward himself.

Will be very interesting to see if that's something they experiment with at training camp next fall.
