Currently my team has 45 contracts. Which is something I can work within going into Free Agency because I'm only looking to make a few additions.
However I would like more flexibility around contracts. That means I'm looking at moving some pretty good prospects who are under contract in exchange for draft picks, or currently drafted prospects who are on the prospect list. I'm not looking to dump these prospects, I'm expecting reasonable return on their value. Also would be willing to package multiple players into a deal.
The following players are the one's I would consider moving under this circumstance:
Kurtis MacDermid - Not really a prospect, he's 29, but he's a solid depth 4th liner/7th defenseman who I would move for a 7th.
Mikhail Abramov - 22 years old. Former Maple Leafs draft pick, traded to St. Louis in the O'Reilly deal. 24 points in 55 AHL games this year.
Jaydon Dureau - 22 years old. Tampa Bay Lightning 5th Round pick, in his first pro season split between AHL and ECHL.
Givani Smith - 25 years old. Still has some potential. He's a highly physical hard working forward with some skill.
Jared McIsaac - 23 years old. High second round pick for the Detroit Red Wings. Suffered multiple injuries but has just completed his second season of 60+ games, so health wise he's back on track.
Spencer Stastney - 23 years old. Fifth round pick by Nashville Predators. Has exceeded his draft stock, already has 8 NHL games played in his first pro season.
Hunter Skinner - 22 years old. Fourth Round pick of New York Rangers traded to St. Louis in the Vladimir Tarasenko deal. 8 points in 23 AHL games this season.
Devin Cooley - 26 years old. Just had a great season in Milwaukee 15-8 2.93 GAA and a .909 SV%. Just signed with Buffalo.
Jet Greaves - 22 years old. Already has a game under his belt with the Columbus Blue Jackets, just turned 22 and has a shot to make the team this year.
