MTL may lack a gamebreaker and I still think they may regret not going after Laine/Hall, but....... they have Carey Price. And PIT/PHI can attest to what he could do last year

Absolutely. Every cup playoffs have shown how critical goaltending is.

There is not a single goaltender in the North that I don't think has the potential to shut us down. I mean last year, Columbus had 2 different goalies that beat us.

Meanwhile, we get lucky to go through games where our goaltenders don't let in an OHL quality goal. The Campbell stretch was one of the few.

Man, David Rittich never recovered from the Oilers paying him back for that embarrassing stick flip.

Leafs led this game 1-0 and 3-2
at 46:42 the game was still 3-2 for the Leafs
Leafs lose 3-6...........

Lots of you Leafs fans blame your goalies but,
its the coaches job to coach the players, the team,
so that they are mentally in the game and not collapse.

I can only wonder what Keefe (and his assistants) said to his players
after Brooks scored that shorty and Leafs took a 3-2 lead.

Players play, but its the coaches where it all starts, the most important stuff happen.
Its like kids and school, it all starts with the parents, what's been taught at home,
if the base work fails, so does the student, same thing with any sport.

Coaching isn't everything. For all I hear about Torts and how great he is, he has advanced past the 2nd round twice ever.

What the eff are you even talking about. Did you watch the game?

Rittich took a fat steamy dump on the ice - twice - and left the team to try to pick up the pieces. This had nothing to do with coaching.

The coach can’t help the goalie save innocent nothing shots

I’m genuinely curious about Matthews, played over 23 minutes but I don’t recall him playing at all. Is he still hurt? If so why play him? For ego trophies?
