Instead of chipping it out of the zone killing a penalty and with Kinkaid out for an additional attacker on top of the PP with a 3-2 lead late, he fires it at the empty net and clears the glass at the other end to take the delay of game penalty.

Even icing the puck rather than chopping it out would’ve been the bad play.
