======================
I've had an idea. Let's decide who the greatest players in Avalanche history are.
  • You decide what "greatest" means.
  • Only judge players based on their Avalanche careers. This means no extra points for Sakic's time with the Nordiques, or Ray Bourque's time with the Bruins.
  • Poll will be open for a few days.
  • Each time you vote, suggest a player who should be added for the next round.
  • If there's no consensus on who should be added I'll just pick the next player who's played the most games.
  • Here's a list of everyone: Colorado Avalanche all-time player list at hockeydb.com

I'm going to keep adding new players right up until we hit 50, since later additions have actually proven quite popular. Maybe next time I'll include more optiosn to start.[/ISPOILER]

Fires of Mt Doom
Anti-Brunette group, are we picking Skoula or de Vries?

Looks like Skoula was ahead last time but either way vote splitting will likely lead to Brunette getting in

voted Wolski. add Ryan Wilson.

I just noticed that both LBN and LOC arent still in the rankings. these should be two names to be considered for these lower spots. along those I already named previously, like Hejda, Clark, Parker... and WILSON.

The disparity in popularity of role players from different eras feels like an insight into the changing nature of lines and line-up depth in the NHL. Logan O'Connor has 57 points in 206 games while Hinote had 65 in 353. While Hinote was obviously more than points I don't see a player lasting that long doing that little on the scoreboard nowadays, and certainly not enough to endear themselves to a fanbase the way Hinote clearly has.

Or all the pensioners on the forum are just overly enamoured with players from their youth in the same way I'll be here in 20 years with my Cogliano and J. Johnson jerseys framed and telling anyone who's left how great they were in the room.
