As long as I can figure out how to make expansion work, it will be 16 keepers.
If I can't make expansion work, 20 keepers (so have 4 backups at the ready)

There is a chance I will not be available at the time of the draft. I assume if I set my pre-draft rankings appropriately the Yahoo system will (poorly) draft for me in the case that I am not there?

It depends. Right now. I have it at 20 players to keep, but I’m trying to find a way to cut it down to 16.

Yes, we are going for expansion as long as I can make it happen offline quickly enough. I don't think the Yahoo draft format will let later round picks be fixed before earlier ones are made. So even if I set the entire roster for your team, an expansion team picking in the first round would still have access to them.

Personally I think the two expansion teams have enough ground to make up without limiting their selections.

Expansion draft

Unlike the NHL, I realize the interest people have in seeing the draft process play out. So rather than handle this in PM's, I'm going to put the expansion draft for @mdm815 and @GoneFullHextall in this thread.

I think from my experimenting that we could actually do the expansion along with the regular draft, however I think that doing the expansion offline will:
1) save time on the actual draft
2) let managers plan their draft strategy based on know who is and isn't available in full

If you go to: Yahoo - login , you will be able to see every currently available player. All keepers from other teams are assigned.

mdm, you have first pick. For speed's sake, we will use a snake draft for the expansion.
