The draft order of the 12 teams who are in the playoffs will be determined by their final playoff standing. If the playoffs actually happen that is.....

If there is no playoffs, there will be no Stanley Cup winner and the draft order will be determined by the regular season finish.

Just curious what was the reason for doing lottery like this? I know covid and all that but I did kinda make that deal with Vegas when they were a lock for Lafreniere based on past rules. So it’s a bit disappointing now that I won’t get him.

The lottery was discussed more than a year ago by GMs and we decided to implement it for this year. This was posted in the rules in the off season and at the beginning of this season.

Vegas GM was fired after the lottery. @hidek91 was hired to be the new GM of the Vegas Golden Knights. The Vegas GM paid the price for his rash actions 2 years ago trading everyone away for draft picks and 2nd tier prospects. Attendance was down. Season ticket renewals were down. Advertising revenue was down. I dont think he will ever work again in the HFNHL. Boston sure as hell doesn't want this guy.
