As far as jersey sales and somesuch, I'm sure most fans and the team would have traded those things for a deeper playoff run. Of course we're assuming that would have happened but we know it didn't.

I think you give far too much credit to the St. Louis fan.
By that point in time, the hype was off and the Cardinals once again reined supreme, most fans were actually probably happy that the Blues bowed out early, gave them more time bow toward Busch III.
