Seeing that Lehner is probably out for the rest of the season. I wonder if Vegas would be interested in Binnington, As it looks like the Blues have put him out there. The Blues defense is a shell of what it was in 19 he has struggled and VGK's defense is better than the Blues. I think Binnington will rebound with a better defense in front and a change of scenery. I know Binny's contract doesn't look great but for a starting NHL goalie, Binny's AAV is not out of line. Especially for a guy who is a cup winner. That's why I think he would be a good fit for Vegas.
Neither Binnington nor Lehner is going to make much of a difference in us making the playoffs or going on a deep run should a miracle ensue. Not without Patches, Smith, Stone, Martinez, even Janmark and Howden (those last two may be back tonight). We need to concentrate on getting healthy for next season, on getting out UFA's and RFA's resigned or traded, getting rid of probably Patches and Dadanov to create cap room, and starting to develop some young kids on ELC's. Binnington is in the first year of a 6 x 6 contract, if he continues to suck, we're stuck with an albatross. We really need to retool (hopefully under a new coaching staff that plays a more attacking skating style), not try to plug holes in some vain attempt to just make the playoffs as #2 wildcard and get waxed by the Avalanche, even though we match up decently against them (but not well enough this year).
