Nich wasn't drafted in our entry/prospect draft so you have to use a keeper on him.

Duly noted.

Ok, we'll try this again.

:stars keepers:

Lehtonen, Thornton, Chara, Smith, Eriksson, Richards, Nichushkin.

Subject to change, of course.

Rookies: Tinordi, Schroeder, Karlsson, McNeill, Nieves, Bystrom, Pickard.

Can't do anything with the prospects until next year. Prospects were traded during this season thinking they'd be protected.

Is this really something people are going to object to though? The prospects involved in trades that occured this season were:

H. Lindholm
Dougie Hamilton
Emerson Etem
Rocco Grimaldi
Ryan Murray
Adam Larsson

None of these guys are really pushing a GP threshhold other than Larsson & Hamilton at 128 and 106 respectively. It makes for a painfully boring off-season when the Keepers is 7 and the prospects are unlimited and uncapped GP.

And I say this as someone with Galchenyuk, Murray, Bennett, B. Smith, Shore and Jensen all playing NHL roles.

I think we're due for implementing a prospect cap. What that cap is I don't particularly care, but 3 seasons of a pool is way too long to just keep rolling with this setup.

The fact that guys like Nichushkin, Jones, and Strome aren't prospects whereas Landeskog, RNH, etc. are is something that's a problem IMO. I understand why it made sense at the time, but it's just strange now and has prevented me from making a few deals due to not being able to keep the players I'd be acquiring.

What would be everyone's suggestions for a prospect GP cap? And if we implemented a cap, how many keepers should we have?

I'm in full support of doing a prospect GP cap. There are a lot of "prospects" out there who aren't really prospects any more.

I think 200-250 games would be more than fair. That's about 2.5-3 full seasons in the NHL. Maybe do 8 keepers if implementing a GP cap then.

Even that seems like a lot to me personally. It wouldn't change a thing next season. I'd say 150, or we could put it at 164 GP (2 full seasons) with an increase to 8 keepers.

A vote is the best way to sort this out.

The Champ is here and he has announcements to make.

1. We are switching to Eight Keepers. This is one more than in the past.

2. I am adding a 212 game cap on the prospects. I know that people have suggested a 164 game cap but I think that this model allows us to go into the future years with a more solid footing as teams aren't going to be forced to lose their prospects right now but instead will have a year to figure it out. The number 212 comes from the potential amount of games an originally drafted prospect could have played during these years (82,48,82).

3. We are going to use the Entry Draft model that I posted earlier. This is the one that takes the results from the previous two years and based off of where you finished is where you'll pick. The Champion will have first choice about where they pick in the real draft, followed by second place (cough Nuckles cough)...etc.

Remember that Keepers are due by the end of the SCF.

Didn't really want to keep Doan, but the rest of my roster is garbage

What about doing something like giving a compensatory pick to teams that don't really want an 8th keeper?

Neither goalie really good enough to be up there based on last year. And wow my team is so good I get to use keepers on Muzzin and 27 point hopefully rebounding Brown
